I found Spill.com reviews on my XBox 360 via the 'Youtube' app there.

I'll say this: although this wasn't my favorite review done by these guys, it's still exemplary of a format they created...reviews that are overall visually entertaining--some, more than the original film.  I especially love the over-the-top honesty of their rating system (I mean--how many TV reviewers can even say 'Some ole Bullshit', 'Better than Sex', and 'Fuck You!')...in an age when so many movies DESERVE the last one, then why not just say it--for those movies especially, you gotta admit 'Spill' is the funniest 'preventative maintenance' you can give your wallet, ever.

I was surprised they don't necessarily let their 'guy'-dominated crew (predominantly) rule their choice of movies to review.

I can easily see any female watching these reviews for their content and entertainment value, and quality.

If I had a kid, their review of 'Hotel Transylvania' would convince me to take him (or her) to see that movie, instead of having to sit down and explain to my kid how nauseatingly ridiculous and formulaic Adam Sandler's 'buddy movies' (the cast he keeps giving easy jobs, INCLUDING HIMSELF) have become, and forcing the kid to watch 'The Waterboy' all the time 'as an example of Sandler's 'Magnum Opus''.

While it's kindof OBVIOUS it's a good thing I don't have kids, my point is, these guys are making an art of movie reviews, and I won't blame them when they do one like this, where the theme of their review detracted somewhat from the content.

It's also cool that their 'guy-format' doesn't skew their overall judgment on movies--I can easily see 'Spill.com' reviews becoming more popular with women than gaming, right now, anyway.  Their reviews are more honest than any I've seen on any other 'network', and I just think of the animation as 'thrown in for fun and entertainment value'.

I don't think they'll kill their 'self-invented' 'product' like Netflix is, and I DO hope to see reviews from them where they push the 'content' while maxing-out the 'funny'.

I disagree with these guys sometimes, but you can see the hi-production-value that goes into the 'humorous animated vignettes' they wander into throughout their scripted reviews, too, so I'm gonna keep watching them for now.

Thanks.

Spill crew. please stop with this bs animation. these reviews have become like Bay movies - tons of pretty, but totally useless and annoying stuff in the way. can't you just go back to good old "4 guys at the table" review style? you know, where you actually did a coherent review, and not this annoying as all hell animations bs?

Ah man!  Slenderman was a nice touch.  Great job as always and hats off to the animators.

@Korey You are a genius for the new format and it's always good to see your creative side flourish. I remember when if you listened to the audio review the only reason to watch the video review was for the awesome animation jokes throughout. Screw what the haters say i hope we don't go back to the old format

lol its funny i just checked out the profiles of the people who have been "unhappy" about the change and these are the same people who ALWAYS seem to complain. My question then is why are you still on this site if it seems to irk you so much?

Comment by darlinho on August 29, 2012 at 6:44pm

@Rick lol i was pretty calm when i wrote that ... there you go making assumptions again. tsk tsk tsk.

But seriously, you seem to be backtracking alot now.

I understand your concerns and everyone else's to certain extent but the problem i have is that none of you are offering any other viable solution. All i see are comments saying "i hate this" "i don't like that." Ok what is the alternative? End of the day this a business. I don't know how old you are mate but if you are above the age of 20 then you should understand the end goal here. The old format was not getting as much traffic in. Hence why the tried to change it upt. Sometimes you have to be patient. They only started doing the new format recently. Rome was not built in one day.

Its a bit sad really. I always thought that spill fans wanted this site to grow but the more i read the comment sections the more i feel like this is not the case.  You all seem to want to the site to be what you want at the expense of the sites success. Talk about selfish.

A good way to add attention to the site would be to post animations from your other podcasts in youtube , i had never listened to a podcast until i saw an animated adventure from rooster teeth, now im a frequent from theyre podcasts and yours too , just saying animating coreys stories from acoco or some other podcasts stories could go a long way baiting youtubers to your site

Damn. That darlinho is one angry brother. He is rocking that Carlton sweater though. Anyway, even if this whole thing is a shtik and the crew actually get along blah, blah, blah, it's a tiresome shtik. Can't they see that?
