If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Welcome toThe Spill Movie Community
It didn't invest me. Because I knew exactly what they were trying to do and what emotions they were trying to make me feel. And how can you say that premise without a trace of irony. Admit it that sounds like a lifetime movie. Not to be a wet blanket, but I'd rather feel a way then have it forced down my throat. " This is the major character death to make you invested in the story and also add sympathy for this character" and had it not been so blatant maybe I woudl've naturally felt invested but instead it felt like somebody holding up cue cards like in Shrek. "Awwwwww"
The voice actors also performed the motion capture as well. I wouldn't say it was manipulative. It felt very organic. A broken man who lost his daughter years ago finds someone to love. It's sad and it immediately invests the player in this story. It's not unique, but it completely delivers at the end. People will do horrible/selfish things in the name of love. That's what I thought The Last of Us was about.
I cannot stress enough how great the voice acting is fucking incredible you're right. I just suppose to me it being so derivative of other things ruined what might have been a cool story. I supposse had it been my first exposure to zombies or had it not been so transparent or predictable "YOU'RE SLOWLY STARTING TO CARE FOR THIS CHARACTER" kept flashing on the screen while I was playing. If I had to call it one word manipulative.
I really enjoyed The Last of Us. My appreciation and love for the game wasn't because it has fungus zombies. It was the acting and characters that made me so invested. Most of my favorite parts didn't even have the zombies. The scenes with David were chilling and the moments between Joel and Ellie were the things that impressed me the most. Is the story unique? No, but it's done very well. I never thought of the game as being about the zombies. It was always about Joel and Ellie's evolving relationship and the people they encountered on their journey. Saying the game is just about zombies is really unfair.
I'm not a fan of TWD show. I've been complaining about that show for years. The writers have no idea how to write women or characters of different ethnicities. It's sad that a redneck with a crossbow is more charismatic than the lead actor of the show. It's also poorly paced. Read the comic or play the TellTale game instead. TellTale's game address many of my complaints that I listed above.
"Had they had better writing nobody would've cared"
So people watched it because of bad writing? That doesn't make any sense.
I hated that season because the writing sucked and to be honest the characters aren't that compelling to sit around on a farm for one season. Had they had better writing nobody would've cared
The characters on TWD aren't perfect but I'm invested in enough of them (Rick, Daryl, Glenn & Maggie, Hershell, Michonee) to keep watching. The zombie kills can be cool but it's not enough for me to keep up with the show. I guess I'm in the minority on that? I must be considering most people hated the season that focused on getting to know the characters (season 2).
Hey that's a very good point I can't argue against that. I never said people like it because it's fun killing zombies. I said people are blowing this out of proportion because it's about zombies. And people don't say it just like they say Walking Dead is a riveting tv show with compelling characters and great story arcs. When any non-biased person admits the show has incredibly dumb moments pretty much every show. Why do people watch it? because it's got zombies. Hell Cyrus even said " I watch it because it's got zombies".
What about the point I made about if the story emotionally invests you? If the game does that for someone, then the story was (to them) good. That's what I've been hearing about the game. You're entitled to your opinion of the game, but don't say people like it just because it's fun killing zombies. I've heard NO ONE use that as their reason for liking the game.
