If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Welcome toThe Spill Movie Community
i'm sorry Noel Penn but this isn't a tyler perry movie. we can't have all the characters black.
What if.. Reed was also black. Hmm??? hmm??
wow that backstory from Fungusmonkey makes me hope both of them are not Black Characters.
They probably *could* make them black, but why would you? Other than to just say "oh look how politically correct we can be", of course. If they have the new movie set in the past (like they should) they'd have a very hard time explaining an interracial relationship between Reed and Sue. But, if it's modern day they could get away with it. I'm not a fan of stunt casting or drastically changing a character's look for the film adaptation, but storywise it wouldn't make much difference. Johnny and Sue's mom died in a carwreck, their dad was a drunk doctor who flushed all their money away, and then they met Reed and rode his coattails all the way to the spacelaunch that gave them their powers. Nothing in there that's specifically "white". However, that might come across as slightly racist if suddenly they become down-on-their-luck black kids that hitch a ride with the smart rich white guy.
My only concern is whether or not Susan Storm will be portrayed as ditzy and stupid as she is in the comics. Good lord, the thing I hated most about those first 2 Fantastic Four movies was Jessica Alba's portrayal of that character.
Well.. naturally, yes.
Johnny Storm is Susan Storm's Brother, does she have to be Black as well or is Johnny Storm an Adopted Brother?
Shit, are they actually going through with the Fantastic Four reboot?!?
Guys, we already have a Fantastic Four movie. It's called The Incredibles. Let this shit die off somewhere else.
As for The Joker.....unless a character's race is SIGNIFICANT to the character themselves, I see no reason why you can't change the ethnicity. Wasn't everyone bitching about Heimdall being played by Idris Elba....only to have Idris Elba kicking all kinds of ass and portraying that character perfectly?
If they're a good actor portraying a good character, then racial ethnicity shouldn't matter. If they're BAD actors playing BAD characters like in that Last Airbender abomination I hesitate to call a film, then that's another thing...
