While my anticipation for Prometheus is staggering, I am still trying to remain cautious. As much as love Ridley Scott I really disliked his Robin Hood adaptation (which admittedly was more to blame on the studio than Scott), and some of his films from the past ten years have been pretty underwhelming. That being said, the trailer looks great, I'm happy to see Damon Lindelof is writing the script, and I like the whole alien gods aspect (very Lovecraftian to me).
(Sorry for the late reply) Ridley Scott is one of my all time favourite directors, I loved his early work on Alien and Blade Runner, he basically reinvented sci-fi films, after Star Wars, he changed the way the "dark" sci-fi movies looked and were made! But unfortunately he's very much a hit or miss kind of guy, I think some of his other work like Legend was not as good, also other films of his just weren't as good.
Unfortunately the problem seems that he's returning to Alien territory and it could be because he wants to go back or it could be he wants to go back to where and when he had a hit! Also I'm not too happy about how he says Prometheus isn't a prequel but it has the DNA of Alien, that sounds like HULK 2 or Superman Returns talk, either it is a prequel or it isn't!
I know that this isn't going to make you happy but so far Prometheus just looks like Alien again, I suppose well just have to wait and see.
