My Easter's been alright. I haven't really done much, except for homework and stuff. I still have like 40 exam questions left to do for history, and some other stuff to do. So, I'm counting the homework as revision, since reading over notes and Bitesize and stuff is pretty much useless for me. I haven't seen any new movies, but at the very start of the holiday I did watch Holy Rollers. It's about a bunch of orthodox Jews smuggling ecstasy and other illegal pills to New York, and Jesse Eisenburg plays one of the smugglers. It was decent, but it wasn't really a gangster movie at all, more like a coming-of-age story for Jesse Eisenburg's character.
Hey Paul, how's your half term going? Seen any really good movies lately? I saw The Woman in Black on Saturday, which was alright. It felt very very average, and I kinda felt that Daniel Radcliffe was wasted in it, or the script just didn't do the rest of the movie justice. Tonight, I think I'll finally watch Kung Fu Hustle. Also, I think I might order some more DVDs soon. I think I'll try and get some good martial arts movies, too.
Cool, I've never heard of La Haihne or The Seventh Seal before, but yeah Attack the Block was excellent, and I remember the Spill crew loving it too. Other than the two games, I also got the Frozen Planet series on blu-ray, which should be really good. I also got about £80 I think from family for Christmas, so I might get something with that too. The Pacific and Band of Brothers look really good, so I might get one of those on blu-ray box set. So far, I've logged about 6 hours of game time on Skyrim, which is excellent. Btw, do we have anymore tests when we go back? As far as I can remember, all we have left is the ICT test.
Yeah one of the things that stood out to me was the soundtrack also. It was also kind of evident that there were underlying themes in the movie, as it conveyed the deterioration of a successful, democratic country, to a corrupt one where the leaders live in a different world to the populace, really well. It did kind of emanate a true atmosphere of a country in turmoil throughout the middle, which was quite ominous and disquieting.
Cool, sounds like you're watching a lot of foreign films lately. Kinda funny how you say a film is hard to watch, when you watched A Serbian Film. So, what do you want for Christmas? I'm getting Skyrim and a game called Tropico 4, two games which look heavily addicting, lol.
Hey Paul how's it going? Seen many movies lately? I saw Kill the Irishman on Sunday, which was alright. I think they tried a lot to make it like another Goodfellas, as there is more than a few things in there borrowed from that movie. But, overall, it was an okay gangster movie, with a nice surplus of explosions. Yesterday, I also went to see Sherlock Holmes 2, which was decent. Definitely not as good as the first one, which I really enjoyed. I'll probably listen to Spill's review of it again now.
Yeah Eastern Promises is one of my favourite films, Naomi Watts and Vincent Cassel were excellent in it, and I also really liked the guy who played Naomi Watts' dad. I've heard that that's one of Cronenberg's directorial mannerisms, the graphic blood and gore in his films, and the emphasized attention to it. Viggo Mortensen can really stretch in his acting abilities too, and can act brilliantly in virtually any role he plays, from what I've seen. Him and Christian Bale are my too favourite actors I think, and two of the best actors today. They're also two of the few actors who method act, so that they can really inhabit the role they're going to be playing. Bale actually learnt martial arts and stuff like that for Batman Begins, and Viggo actually talked to Russian gangsters about what the fake tattoos he wore for the film meant.
