If it's crap ... We'll tell you
'Scrubs' star Zach Braff is in talks with Disney to join Sam Raimi's prequel/reimagining 'Oz: The Great and Powerful'. If cast, Braff will play the role of Frank, the "loyal but under-appreciated assistant" to James Franco's character, Oz. While the two roles were originally aimed to be played by Robert Downey Jr. and John C. Reilly (as Oz and Frank respectively), both actors turned down the roles and Disney has had to recast.
The film, which focuses on the events prior to 'The Wizard of Oz', centers around circus magician/con artist Oz as he is swept away in a hot air balloon and finds himself in the mystical land of... Oz (which seems like it would be a bit of a coincidence, right?). Soon, he is accidentally swept up in an epic adventure to battle evil witches and bring peace to the troubled lands.
Along with James Franco, Braff would act alongside Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz as the evil witches Theodora and Evanora, and Michelle Williams as Glinda the good witch. Shooting is planned to begin this July in Michigan, with a release date of March 8th, 2013.
