Uh, why is this movie getting a "second" audio review?
[Dollar Theater Series] Looking back into World War Z: Characters and “Mister Hansom” Brad Pitt
I honestly don't get where these positive reviews are comming from.. I found this movie to be ridiculous.. About as ridiculous as you can get.. It was like 2012 all over again, main ch. just hopping from one country to the next, arriving just as shit hits the fan.. etc.. And with respects to Cyrus' girlfriend.. Nothing stupid happened? I can think of at least two of off the top of my head.. Finger on Trigger-guy and the whole of Israel with that retarded reasn for wall building.. This movie was terrible..
There was WAAAAAAAAY too much shit going on at breakneck speeds for me to really care about anything that happened in this movie.
Okay sure, opening up with a literally bang is cool. Gets us right into the immediacy of the situation and makes us just as discombobulated and panicked as the characters are. I can dig that. ....don't do that through the REST OF THE DAMN FILM, though!! It felt like there were big chunks snipped out of this movie, or they didn't get enough coverage footage to fill out scenes. The rapid-fire editing made everything feel INCREDIBLY rushed, and combined with the barely intelligible Overly Shaky Cam shenanigans, it ultimately made it feel sloppy.
On a technical level I felt it was pretty damn bad, and also on a storytelling level. Okay fine, I get that Gerry is kinda in a hurry to find answers to stop the outbreak, but we keep getting jerked around from continent to continent to continent every 20 minutes that nothing is able to settle in for me. I don't feel like he's really going through anything or that he's in any legit danger. And why NOT show more scenes of the wife and kids coping with their new (temporary?) lives while he's gone? You get a SINGLE scene of the kids getting food, the wife making generic "Are You Okay? Good. I Wuv You" calls to Gerry, and...that's about it. Hell I'm still not entirely sure just HOW that one little Mexican kid ended up with them.
That's the thing about this movie. I got back from this barely an hour ago and I'm already having trouble remembering WTF went on in here. Because again, it's just moving WAY too fast for me to absorb the scenes and the situation to fully comprehend them and get behind them. It was only during the last 20 or so minutes of the film (where you guys are saying the rewrites happened) that I was actually able to kinda get behind the thing. But by that point it was too late; I was just enjoying it because they finally slowed the fuck down for once and actually attempted to build up some tension. But honestly it's nothing you haven't seen before done much better. This is a Some Ol Bullshit for me...
@Cory Vire: You have had your eyes closed while reading the book. The characters who were being interviewed had all ranges of experiences, and some even detailed their development with their stories.
A few examples: the man with the dogs, and the pilot who heard voices (regression). Shit, man. Any character who survived has some sense of development. Either their impression of humanity, or way of living and dealing with the aftermath of the war. You read the book, right?
What really changed about Brad Pitt's character? The only breakthrough character would be that little boy, and that's a stretch. These characters lived, but they never show any gratitude for life or gained any perspective on how fast the world turns to shit.
@Cory vire literally none of what you said makes any of those complaints invalid.
I love how people are complaining about no Character developement. Theres is none in the book either. It's basicallyy this is Joe. Joe survived X. this is his story. This is mary. Marry survived Y this is her story and so on and on. People keep forgetting that movie logic is not logiic Without illogical things happening movies would end in 5 min. Also the gore thing. In the book it's left to your imagination as there is almost none. So that complaint is also invalid.
"I am Legend shit the bed" nice one Leon very funny.
