If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Putting the cart before the Pegasus, Warner Brothers has hired writers to pen the script for the third installment of the new 'Clash of the Titans' franchise...which currently has one released film. Two of the writers from the upcoming 'Clash' sequel 'Wrath of the Titans' have been asked back to develop a third story also based on Greek myths. Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson will craft a treatment that again centers on Perseus, who will be played again in 'Wrath' by Sam Worthington, and, evidentally, another character from 'Wrath of the Titans.'
Does Warner Brothers harbor a bit of hubris as to the success of their 'Clash of the Titans' sequel? Maybe. Or do they perhaps possess Zeus-like omnipotence and can already see next year's box office grosses. Probably not. This seems like an interesting way to hedge bets. If the second film is a success, they've already got the ball rolling on a third installment. If it's a Kraken-sized flop, they can cancel the third without having gone out of their way to recruit new writers. So yeah, it seems like they are getting way ahead of themselves, but there's not much of a downside here from their perspective. Hopefully though, if they insist on presenting these films in 3D, they have learned their lesson from 'Clash' and the second and third installments will be shot in 3D instead of post-converted. 'Wrath of the Titans' opens March 30, 2012.
Are you guys interested in a second 'Clash of the Titans' film...let alone a third?
