Ever since the release of 2005's 'The Wedding Crashers,' starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, many people wondered when these two reprobates would reunite for another cinematic outing. Well, it only took seven years, but it looks like we finally have our answer. Wilson and Vaughn will be headlining 'Interns' for 20th Century Fox. The film revolves around a pair of businessmen who simultaneously lose their jobs to downsizing. They then have to start from scratch as interns at an Internet startup company where they are forced to compete with a gaggle of slick young punks. The script was written by Vince Vaughn himself and looks as if it will be directed by Shawn Levy ('Real Steel'). No word yet as to when filming will begin.
Like many of you, I really liked 'Wedding Crashers.' It was a fun, absurd story featuring wild characters and just the right measure of crudeness. Vaughn and Wilson have a fantastic screen chemistry and I am so excited at the prospect of seeing them team up again. The story reminds me of an episode of 'Friends' in which Chandler quits his big corporate, soul-killing job in order to pursue his dream of working in advertising. He has to start from the ground up as an intern, grouped in with a bunch of young upstarts. Jokes about his age become the driving force of the episode. Obviously, I'm not suggesting that 'Friends' influenced Vince Vaughn's script, but rather merely pointing on that this isn't a groundbreaking concept, and it's one that's only garnered deeper relevance given the state of our economy over the last few years. I do look forward to seeing the jokes they come up with to create a humorous barrier between Wilson and Vaughn and their younger counterparts. Not only that, but it'll be interesting to see what cameos are written into the script for actors from their previous films. I'm particularly interested to see if Will Ferrell turns up as the Chazz Reinhold of 'Interns.'
What do you guys think? Are you excited to see Vaughn and Wilson together again? What's the worst internship you've ever had?

Cannot wait! Wedding Crashers is one of my favorite comedies of all time. I hope they can recapture the chemistry and fun from that movie.

Comment by FalseFace on February 8, 2012 at 9:01pm I also thought Wedding Crashers is one of the best comedies of all time. I am 26 though, and watching classics like Airplane didn't really do it for me. Anyhoo, these guys did have great chemistry on screen. I'll look forward to it, but it HAS been seven years...
Comment by CPW2007 on February 8, 2012 at 4:38pm Your not going to find an "original idea" in today's world, but I think having Vaughn and Wilson put their own spin and comedic chemistry on it could make it interesting.
Comment by Mr. Suave on February 8, 2012 at 4:36pm Me and several friends of mine feel like Wedding Crashers and 40 year old virgin were the funniest films of that time period!!!
