Leonardo DiCaprio stars as enigmatic and controversial lawman J. Edgar Hoover in the Clint Eastwood-directed film, 'J. Edgar'. DiCaprio will portray the founder and first director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation who became the face of police enforcement in America for over 50 years. While his public persona was feared or respected, behind closed doors he held secrets that could have destroyed his career, his image and his life. @Caleb Kahn.  Although i agree with you on what you said about Di Caprio, it has to be Gary Oldman's time to win an Oscar.  I saw Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy last weekend and i have to say that its the best film of the year for me.  Oldman's performance is simply amazing but i'm not going to go overboard and say give him the Oscar now.  I'm going to wait and see J. Edgar even though i am sick of Clint Eastwood making Oscar bait films!

I already knew Hoover was the president that led us into the depression but I didn't know he also started the FBI. And looking at the synopsis of this movie, it's kinda just piling on reasons to hate the guy.

I have a feeling that if Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't win the Oscar for this film, he'll get the Oscar for Django Unchained. Either way, DiCaprio seems to be getting better every year and I can definitely see him becoming an actor of De Niro's level of reverence and respect for my generation now. After The Fighter, I was convinced that Christian Bale was my generation's De Niro but DiCaprio's moving in on that now! I mean, if he doesn't win for playing one of the most infamous historical figures in America or for playing the evil racist slave owner for QT's next film, I will be stunned! Sure, I've heard much word about how Gary Oldman may finally get his first nomination this year but it looks like Leo's time for an Oscar may finally be approaching and I think after so long, he deserves it!

Glad that I now have something worth going to see on the night of my birthday.

Doesn't he go drag? I didn't see that in the trailer.

I actually have low expectations.

Leo in drag?? I'm in. :D Nah, Clint is probably not even gonna bring that up. Wouldn't have anything to do with the story anyway. This has a great cast, an amazing director at the helm and the old man make-up looks good from what I can tell so far. I'm definitely checking out this Oscar bait.

Hope to see some Leo Dicaprio/Arnie Hammer action ;)

I don't know. Clint Eastwood has made some great movies, Grand Tarino for example, but he has made more. . . eh movies if I'd be the one to say it. Both of the movies that he has recently made, Invictus and Hereafter, were just ehh. This looks good, but I'm not going to have high expectations until I see the reviews.

This year keeps looking better and better. Between this, Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy, and A Dangerous Method, I can't decide which is my most anticipated fall release!
