If it's crap ... We'll tell you
For every movie there needs to be a poster right?
The movie may be crap but the poster might still be cool, some people even hang them up on their wall but might not even like the movie just the poster. Anyway this is my 10 favourie ever movie posters. I have seen all these movies and liked them all except one (try to guess which) and even though some of them have nothing to do with the movie itself there still really cool to look at:
10. A Nightmare On Elm Street
This Poster doesnt show Nancy or Freddy, instead it's a creepy looking figure and a unknown women, but it's the four knifes hanging above her bed with her looking up terrified that make this poster amazing. It shows that their is this evil sprit which lurks over your bed and if you go to sleep your not waking up. Maybe she is Nancy but from i can tell she isnt, the fact it doesnt show freddy but instead a creepy looking figure makes his reveal in the film even more epic.
9. American Beauty
This movie told you that beauty is all around and sometimes you need to look closer to find it. This is what makes the tagline simple and yet effective. The whole image is female flesh holding a rose, kind of sexual yet innocent at the same time, this imagine to me relates to the moment when Kevin Spacey finds out what beauty really is, to bad a few minutes later he dies, sorry for spoiling that but he even told you it was going to happen at the very start of the movie.
8. Terminator Salvation
Say what you will about the movie but the poster is super cool, it shows that more or less the machines control the whole world and the tagline shows that the end begins which i'm still trying to figure out what that means. To bad the movie wasn't as cool as this poster though.
Every single frame of this poster shout's bad-ass! at the top you see a large exposion covered in a ball of fire then palm trees so show where this is probably, but behind the fire makes it look really cool, then you see the Vietcong and then the epic image of William Defoe on his knees with his hands up, showing that the end is near for him and he shows his inocence by doing that pose. Amazing pose, to bad Ben Stiller ruined it but that's another story.
6. The Usual Suspects
Whenever you see a police lineup in a tv or movie you will always think of this. There are many Usual Suspect posters all of them having the police lineup as the cover. Kevin Spacey's name appears last in all of them. The tagline is completely true, it's a twist that i didnt see coming and made me wonder who i didn't. That's exactly what the tagline says. The police lineup scene is probably the most important scene in the movie because it's the first time they all meet and the plan takes shape.
One of my favourite ever movies. The cover does look like Silence of the Lambs at least i think that anyway. The whole image is of Drew Barrymore who( watching the trailer and looking at this poster) made you think she was the lead. No image of the scream mask or of Neve Cambell means you dont expect what's coming next..except maybe a sequel.
4. The Exorcist
Just like in Scream this poster made you not knowing what to expect to see next. The image shows a man in black looking up at the window of a house. From the window a large beam of light is shining down onto him. This image is the best scene in the movie for me. The Priest however from the version i saw really didnt do much in the movie so using him as the cover was great but at the same time strange for me.
3. Independance Day
Don't expect the sequel's to have a poster like this for obvious reasons. This poster is the reason people went to go see Independance Day. You know your planet is doomed when you see The White House getting blown to bits to a giant space ship. Say what you will about the movie or it's crazy Director but that scene was really cool and the best thing to use as it's poster. A cool tagline to go with it would have been nice though.
2. Jurassic Park
This looks more of a book cover than a movie poster. You might think it's strange that i ranked this so high. The reason being that this image is Jurassic Park. It's like the front door, you dont know what's behind it but your dieing to find out. The tagline is a bit dumb though.
Amazing poster. A black backround and all you see is this egg which looks to be hatching and all you see is this green glowing thing. This image tells you right away that it's an Alien. And my favourite tagline of all time at the bottom leaves your imagination going wild when you see this poster.
