Well boys and girls the year of 2010 is done and since everyone is doing a "top 10" list I thought I do a list of my own.
So here is mine, kind of. It a top 5 list a top 5 of video games of 2010 the list is in no real order of my favorites or what I thought was the best of the year. Just my honest thoughts oh there all PS3 games since I own just a PS3. Sorry Wii and Xbox players. With all that all said here is my list
Heavy Rain
This is one of my favorite games in my overall game collection. The graphics are stunning and the game has a great overall story. Driven heavily on both character development, a rich if somewhat dark story and all quick time game-play.
Heavy Rain tells the story of four people looking for a child-killer called "The Origami Killer", cause child killing really brightens up the day. That all I call tell you without spoiling it for the people who haven't played it yet.
It's both cinematic and different and worth a try if you want to pull yourself away from the same old press X to jump or press R1 to shoot type of games. Did I bring up that fact there is a sex scene as well.

Now for number two where going from a rain soaked city where going out west into the post-apocalypse Mojave Wasteland.
Fallout: New Vegas
The follow-up for Fallout 3 the 2008 game of the year. The main story is simple you play a courier who was shot, robbed and left for dead. Now your on a quest to fine who did it and why, which is not the selling point of this game.
The selling point of this game is choice like I'll side with the NCR this time or I'll have a high energy skill this time around. It's a big open radioactivity world in which you have the power to shape.
With well over 100 missions you can do and the very number of decisions you can make and places and people you come across in free roam it's a real addicting game.
But wait until you can get it cheep because it dose has bugs I'm not every going to try to lie you all about that.
Now on too number three where staying out west but going back to the days of the wild west.
Red Dead Redemption
You could call this game a GTA with horses but that would be missing the point. Set in 1911 when the old west is dying. You play John Marston a former outlaw turned bounty hunter.
John is forced to hunt down his former gang-members for the US government in order to get his wife and son back. The game pays respect to old western movies with it's soundtrack and overall mood of the game.

Red Dead Redemption is highly cinematic both breathtaking and innovating in it's graphics and story. The acting is great and is without a doubt some of the best in a video game. With a story about redemption and family Rockstar games has once again made a modern classic for us all to enjoy.

Number four is a game that doesn't take place in the Old West or in a Post-Apocalypse but in the realm of fantasy.
Final Fantasy XIII
After game number thirteen you would think gamers would be sick of Final Fantasy by now, but no there not.
This game pulls away from what people think a RPG should be. Instead of a turn based game it's all real time game-play but at the same time keeps what works for the most part.
Now let me point this out about myself, I'm not a fan of Japanese RPG games and found the story to be a little more melodramatic then it needed to be and the voice acting for one girls in the game reminds me of a high school cheerleader.
Her voice was like nails on a blackboard to me.
Now I'm not trying to bash this game or it wouldn't be on my top five at all.
Apart from fact the game is breathtaking with it's graphics and scope with each level. The game is fare but difficulty and the game-play made simple so as your not overwhelm with too much too soon. It's dose a good job of holding your hand until you know what you need to then adds on.
The character design was also by far the best of 2010. Even if all the women are impossible good looking. Come on how many of you have seen a woman as good looking as Lighting in real life?
Now for number five
Assassin's Creed II
Whoever said history is boring is dead wrong. I'm not even going to try to explain the story, because it's kind of weird and I can't really tell you about it without spoiling it anyways.
The game takes place in Italy during the renaissance era. What's cool about the game is real historical are in the game like Leonardo da Vinci and Pope Alexander VI.
You spend most of the game laying in wait or stalking your pray, cause that what assassin do.
All the cites in the game are really detailed from a crack in the walkways to the blades of grass and with the ability of free-running there are few places in the verging Italian cites you can't go. You get to see Rome, Florence and varying other famous towns. Combat is made easy for the most part and weapons like swords, maces and the twin wrist knifes are at your disposal to kill your foes with.
So there you all are. My top five of 2010. I hope 2011 treat you well.

Comment by Zach Chapman on January 11, 2011 at 2:35am I can't believe you liked ff13 so much. It is good, but top five good? And you are right. The characters are over dramatic to the point of unbelievability. The pacing in the game is also pretty bad. In my opinion it doesn't become worth playing until you are half way into the story.
But it also does a lot of things right. Detailed graphics, complex storytelling once the characters finally find out their little secrets against each other and, did I mention, graphics? hahaha
