The Rock Chases Thieves Off The Set Of 'The Fast And The Furious 6'

We assign the term "action hero" to not only the protagonists of the action films we love, but also the actors who play them. Often the distinction is a touch unwarranted, but sometimes the performers themselves possess traits similar to those of the heroic characters they play. When the filmmaker's behind 'Fast Five' cast Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a quick-thinking, physically-intimidating law enforcement agent, the choice may have been more apt than they realized. Recently, while on the set of Justin Lin's 'The Fast and the Furious 6' in London, The Rock happened to notice a robbery taking place. He saw two young thieves in hooded sweatshirts attempting to break into vans containing expensive equipment. Though the cameras were rolling, Johnson went sprinting, and shouting, toward the burglars, wearing an FBI uniform and waving his fake badge. The thieves immediately departed without their cache of goods.

Is anyone surprised these kids high-tailed it out of there when they saw The Rock running at them? Whether you've seen any of his movies, or seen him lay down the proverbial smack on some jabrony in the ring, the guy is 6'5 and somewhere in the neighborhood of 280 pounds. If I were in those kids' shoes, even without the fake badge and FBI outfit, I think I'd abandon that particular criminal endeavor in favor of not catching a beating. You gotta hand it to The Rock, this story is indicative of the kind of energy and intensity he brings to every role. The fact that he does not hesitate to take on crime in the middle of a shoot is either badass or foolhardy, depending on how you look at, but I'll be damned if it doesn't speak to exactly why I like this guy. He's got a towering personality and always seems like he's throwing himself headlong, somewhat recklessly, into every role. Now if we could just get Vin Diesel to battle carjackers and Paul Walker to pummel check forgers and we'd have the best/worst Avengers knockoff ever.

What do you guys think? Is The Rock a badass crime fighting champ...or completely out of his mind?

Methinks LL Cool J beat him to the punch... or at least the chump that tried to break into his house.  Regardless, in the words of the late great Michael Clark Duncan, from the movie 'The Whole Nine Yards', "By the way... {grabs his crotch} ...Huevos grandes, amigo!"

He's not the hero Fast 6 needs, he's the one it deserves....

And it was thus, Dwayne swore that day to protect those he cared about and all of the world from the evils of crime and injustice. From that day forth he would defend the world as "The Rock"!
