If it's crap ... We'll tell you
(Todd Philips really needs an intervention)
The biggest problem of this movie is the biggest problem of the entire series, Zach Galifianakis (Alan). But unlike its predecessors, they made his character the biggest asshole and retarded for 90% of the movie. Come on. How can he not show any guilt to a dead giraffe, a lot of people who probably died in a Final Destination incident and his fucking father? There are a lot of things that I hate about this but there’s that slightly sweet moment with him and the grown kid from the first Hangover that kinda touched me. Hangover II is unoriginal but at least it has something funny or wild in every scene. The only funny parts of this are from one character only.
Ken Jeong (Mr. Chow) is the best and only redeeming part of it. Ed Helms (Stu) is the same. I can’t see why he keeps his cool and punch Alan once and for all. It felt like Bradley Cooper (Phil) is just forced to be here, just as much as his character needs to be cool with Alan’s creepy homo moments. John Goodman (Marshall) was okay doing his Walter Sobchak meme. Justin Bartha (Doug) disasppeared again but they didn’t make a funny joke about it. Mike Epps (Black Doug) was funny at start. Fuck those who casted Melissa McCarthy (Cassie) in here.
The Hangover III tried to be different from its origins at the expense of its humor and morality. However, the electrifying performance of Ken Jeong, the manipulative soundtrack and the slightly nostalgic end made this movie less annoying.
