Alright by now most if not all of us have seen the Green Lantern trailer, it didn't really wow me but left me feelng that the film won't be anything special, or good for that matter, kinda like the trailer for the Thor film. The parts of the trailer where we saw Oa and the Green Lantern Corps was just awesome, I liked the look of it and seeing some of the other green lanterns like Kilowog and Sinestro got me excited. THEN I saw the parts of the trailer set on Earth and it looks, I dare say, very Fantastic Four. What fustrates me is that I'm not sure where they're trying to go with the film; will it be a full on space epic with Hal over coming his fears and getting the will to be the greatest green lantern of them all? or will it be very light-hearted and comedic with Hal using the ring for all kinds of silly shit. I mean to be honest the stuff we saw other than Oa and the Corps looked bad, Fantastic Four bad. What we saw of power rings usage in the film was a tad off, we saw that fist construct which looked okay. The construct itself was a bit on the weak side but I hoping thats because at that point in the film Hal is not experinced in using his powers and as he becomes more powerful and experienced the constructs will look more solid and pronounced. Aside from that and flying we don't really see more of how the ring will be used; I know this is just the trailer but it doesn't fill me with great confidence about this film. Watching the trailer reminded me of the Thor trailer, the stuff on Asgard looked cool, it looked epic and it was what I wanted to see, but once it jumped to the stuff on Earth it just looked down right silly. I'm not even sure I want to see the film now, I've had my doubts before but always said to myself 'wait for the trailer', but I can't even tell what kind of film its going to be, and Ryan Reynolds doesn't help at all. As Deadpool, Fuck Yes! but as Hal Jordan? NO! As Kyle Rayner? Maybe. All in all I'm still not sold on the film, I;m hoping it will be good but to be honest I'm calling it Some Old Bullshit juding from the trailer. Who nows maybe the next trailer will convince me but as of today its not looking good.
