God almighty what a year! Obama becomes president. The economy goes down the drain... and a great year for movies. Even with bittorrent, watch-movies.net, limewire and thousands of other things that are making the MPAA cry, people still went to the theaters... alot.

So I'm basically going to cover everything about 2008 that rocked in countdown form. Not really going to elaborate that much since many of the prime movies speak for themselves. Anyways, let's begin.

FAVORITE FILMS OF 2008
So many great movies (a lot of which I have yet to see). Ultimately, this list will probably not be fully complete until a lot of the big oscar pics are released on DVD when I can finally watch them all on my own time. Anyway...

10. Quantum of Solace
9. Charlie Bartlett
8. Kung Fu Panda
7. Cloverfield
6. Tropic Thunder
5. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
4. Doubt
3. The Wrestler
2. The Dark Knight
1. Wall-E

Like I said the list will go through a slew of changes once I see Slumdog, Revolutionary Road, Frost/Nixon etc but as of now, my top three are the absolute prime of this year.

The Wrestler is directed by the absolute genius himself Darren Aronofsky and like his other films, emotionally tragic and perfectly crafted through the direction and acting. Let's not forget that Mickey Rourke gives an unbelievable performance that is definitely worth the Golden Globe.

The Dark Knight gives the beloved franchise the maturity and emotional depth it deserves. It's not only a perfect comic book adaptation but a well-crafted crime triller and intelligent action film.

Wall-E is living proof that animation is art. The first half is a charming Chaplin-esque silent comedy and the second half is a bitter satire that gives more clever commentary than any political pundit.
