Seth "Spicolli" posted a statusExclusive! You may have seen the recent
"Mark of the Spider-Man" viral campaign in which cities all over the nation were "tagged" with giant spider-emblems. Well, today they kicked off the latest batch of marketing - a hunt for evidence left behind by Dr. Connors himself (aka "The Lizard"). Using an account named @ScaleSeeker on Twitter, the hunt is currently ongoing in cities like New York, Chicago, New Orleans, and our very own Austin, TX (you can follow along with the fun using #LizardTrail). Posts were sent out with latitude and longitude coordinates, a brief description, and a corresponding photo. For Austin it was:
Well, we're lucky enough to have one of the biggest Spider-nerds on the planet working for us, and our very own
Fungusmonkey delivered the goods! Sure, he may have had to stab a few people in the neck to get it**, but you know what they say: "You can't make an omelette without Fungusmonkey stabbing someone in the neck" (or something like that). He followed the coordinates to a location near downtown near Butler Park, and there - hidden amongst the marshy glades near a conveniently lizard-sized manhole cover - was a ripped and tattered lab coat, with an OsCorp ID badge:
And last but not least, inside the pocket was a sealed envelope labeled "OsCorp Industries Herpeton/Sequence: 09" with a lab slide inside. Under the glass seems to be some kind of lizard scale (nice tie-in, guys) and a code: "Batch LF":
The batch code is likely the next part of the viral campaign, as the other slides recovered all contain different codes (maybe that spell out the next website address?). So far, they've recovered:
New York: Sequence 1 Batch DQ
Tampa: Sequence 2 Batch L
Atlanta: Sequence 3 Batch P
Minneapolis: Sequence 5 Batch G
New Orleans: Sequence 6 Batch BQ
Austin: Sequence 9 Batch LF
And more keep flooding in by the minute. Follow along on Twitter and see how it all unfolds!
UPDATE! Now that all the slides have been found, the Batch numbers have been decoded and unlocked a link to:
http://www.oscorpindustries.com/animaldynamicslab/
as well a new video featuring Dr. Connors announcing an "internship program". The date on the page says it begins May 14th and from the looks of the bottom of the page, the more you share the link on FB and Twitter, the more it unlocks. Go there now to help out, and spread the link (don't forget to tell them Spill sent you!).
**Fungusmonkey has not ever stabbed someone in the neck... that we know of.

"Why don't you let Marvel studios reboot this, and co-work it with Marvel Cinematic Universe ?"
... Maybe because they like making money?

Good Stuff!
Comment by Paul William Gregory on May 12, 2012 at 7:52am While I don't particularly agree with Rocket Joe!s choice of words ... I do agree with his initial sentiment. This film has all the marketing it needs. It's a Spider-man movie! And Reacher420s right as well It's not like any self respecting funny book boy or girl isn't already aware of the film and as for the general audience ... they've got a whole trilogy of films as promotion already ... if they don't care by now they're not going to be pulled in by this stunt. Am I going to read a page, go to a set of coordinates and find whatcould be anything hiding in the bushes if I'm not going to see the film?
Comment by Goatsey on May 11, 2012 at 11:04pm Wow, it's awesome that Peter found that lab-coat. Might be worth a pretty-penny some day!
Comment by Blackharp on May 11, 2012 at 9:40pm Love love love love! Amazing Spiderman's version of the Oscorp logo, I know its a small thing but it looks so awesome! Especially compared to the extremely boring one from the Raimi films, never thought there could be a cool Oscorp logo... What? I just really like it...
