If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Originally, I was not going to go to Weird Wednesday, but I was convinced by the Co-host to accompany him to the screening. I consider myself lucky in having attended this screening. This is one badass movie.
In the 70s, after the success of Shaft, there were many blackxplotation made by the studios. Most of them were pretty bad, these cause the few good ones to slip thru the crack, and this is one of the lost good ones. This movie actually flopped at the box office, but I highly recommend you finding this movie.
The movie is about a guy named Mr. T (No, he doesn’t have Mohawk), he owns a pool hall which is his cover. In reality he is a guy who solves problems for whoever pays him. He is framed for murder by these 2 pimps who want to expand their operation. Now T must use all his wits to find a way to prove his innocence.
Robert Hook’s plays T, who was at this time more known as a stage actor. He is really good in this role. Every word which comes out of his mouth is just super cool. One of the pimps is played by the late Paul Winfield who you probably know him better as Captain Clark Terrell who was under the control of khan in Star Trek 2. He is really funny in this movie. Seeing him slowly collapse in fear from the thought of Mr. T coming after him.
The movie soundtrack is composed by Marvin Gaye. It was actually more commercially successful than the movie. Marvin Gaye did a great job in this album. Its actually consider one of his best.
In the final act Mr. T attacks a luxury apartment building all by himself. It feels like a cool James bond action scene. Even with bullets being fire from everywhere the main concern of Mr. T is will his suit get ruin. This movie definitely finishes with a bang.
I love this movie, it makes you feel powerful. It made me want to fire a gun into the air and get laid as soon as possible. I am telling you need to find this movie. It’s available on DVD.
