Super 8 Release Date
Super 8, the upcoming sci-fi thriller from director JJ Abrams, now has a release date. According to Box Office Mojo, the film will open Jun 10th 2011. This will sandwich the film between X-Men: First Class (June 3rd) and Green Lantern (June 17th).
As with Cloverfield, Abrams is keeping a tight reign on information about this film. Pretty much the only thing we know for sure is that the film, or footage within the film, takes place in 1979.
Abrams has also taken the roles of writer and producer (the producer credit being shared with Bryan Burk) for the film. Steven Spielberg is the executive producer. The score is being written by Michael Giacchino, who has scored such films as Star Trek, Let Me In and The Incredibles.
Super 8 stars Kyle Chandler, Amanda Michalka, Noah Emmerich and Elle Fanning. It is unknown whether or not the film will be in 3D.
