Stephen King Reveals Top 10 List For 2010

Source: Slashfilm.com

Stephen King has always interested me when it comes to his yearly 'Best Of Movies' list.

2008 featured such movies as Lakeview Terrace and Death Race in his list and 2009 had the remake of The Last House On The Left and 2012.

This year, the list doesn't seem that weird with the exception of Takers, which is sure to surprise everyone. King's #1 film this year is 'Let Me In' which he calls "the best horror film of the decade."

Here's his top 10 list:

10. Green Zone – “one Iraq war movie that puts story and suspense above shrill outrage.”
9. Jackass 3D
8. Monsters
7. Splice
6. Kick-Ass
5. Takers – “This satisfyingly complex cops-’n'-robbers movie features great performances … and the armored-car heist is the best action sequence I’ve seen this year.”
4. The Social Network – “succeeds where Michael Douglas; Wall Street sequel fails.”
3. Inception
2. The Town – “Bad title, fantastic movie. … a strangely intimare film”
1. Let Me In

You can read more on this list in the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly.

“one Iraq war movie that puts story and suspense above shrill outrage.”
Really? I thought the exact opposite.
Green Zone was okay, but The Hurt Locker fits the "story and suspense above... outrage" description better.

Interesting list to say the least. Not too surprised with his picks. Besides Takers

There are only two movies during which I have fallen asleep. Green Zone is one of them. Yes, I get it, Matt Damon is the son of Zeus, now make me care for his character.

Dear Stephen,

Now that you're done frittering away a movie list, please do what you can to get that Dark Tower movie solidified.

Thank you.

10. Youth in Revolt
9. Cyrus
8. Shutter Island
7. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
6. Kick-Ass
5. Toy Story 3
4. The Town
3. Inception
2. The Social Network
1. 127 Hours

There were a lot of movies this past year that, unfortunately, I didn't get to see, such as The Kids Are All Right, Buried, and Let Me In.

As for the rest of 2010, I'm looking forward to Black Swan, The King's Speech, True Grit, Tron Legacy, and The Fighter. 2010 has been a pretty good year for film in terms of the "good" movies such as Inception, Social Network, etc. I usually don't base the quality of a year's worth of film on shit storms (Last Airbender, Leap Year, Marmaduke, Prince of Persia, Alpha and Omega, etc).

I've been surprised by people I know, whose opinions I respect, that have put Takers on their list. Some how what just looks like a piece of shit to me turned out to be a satisfying trip to the movies for them. It's kind of funny how many times that happened this year.

it's not all that "crazy", he's got some great movies on there like Splice, Kick-Ass, Social Network, Inception and The Town.

I seem to remember reading he preferred his own TV take on the Shining to the Kubrick masterpiece!
just saying
;)
