Matthew Vaughn's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' may be over a year-and-a-half away from release, but plot details are starting to leak out courtesy of comicbook author, and Marvel creative consultant, Mark Millar. In a recent interview with SFX, Millar offered some insight into the 'X-Men: First Class' followup. He teased the plot as being a crossover between X-Men and 'The Terminator.' He also relayed some plot keywords that suggest the appearance of the iconic mutant-hunting Sentinels. Here's what he said...
"You've got robots, you've got time travel, you've got superheroes - it's got everything in one film,"
Of course the appearance of Sentinels in the next film was already suggested by the title 'Days of Future Past.' Those familiar with that particular alternate future storyline will remember that part of the dystopian future created by the assassination of Robert Kelly involved mutants living under the rule of the Sentinels and being forced into internment camps. So yes, it should not surprise anyone. However, the use of the "Days of Future Past" arc was not a guarantee we'd see these infamous bots. Really what this news bit does is simply more or less confirm we won't be cheated out of seeing Sentinels in the next film. Parts of the "Days of Future Past" story have actually made it into previous X-Men films, and yet the most we've seen of the Sentinels is a cheap tease in 'X-Men 3' To be fair, Millar doesn't use the word Sentinel in the interview. But given the story from which the next film is drawing, to what other robots could he possibly be referring?
What do you guys think? Are you excited that it's looking like we'll finally see Sentinels in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past?' Do you think their design will differ much from the comics?

Comment by Tab on October 24, 2012 at 3:15pm Time travel is a good sign. You can take the Star Trek route and retcon out all the bad stuff from the first Xmen movies while keeping all the good. I like this.

The story will be greatly changed. Most of the characters from Days of Future past won't even be in the movie (Storm, Wolverine, Colossus, ShadowCat, Rachel Summers, Pyro, Blob, etc- obviously not the X-men First Class cast). Likely all they'll keep is the theme of the original story and not much else; which is one of the highest regarded stories in X-Men history. Oh yeah making that into a film is a horrible idea.
Comment by Bin Laughin on October 24, 2012 at 8:05am Meh, this is still FOX we're talking about. So the only thing that I'll be seeing that weekend is The Hobbit 3.

I won't mind seeing some Sentinels in this franchise. I just hope the bring some order to the continuity, Because this is still connected to Wolverine's Origins and X-Men 1-3.
Idris Elba or Michael K. Williams as BISHOP!!
