The poor French; If we're not beating on them for being wine-drinking, chain-smoking snobs, then we get them for emulating the Nazis. They just can't catch a break, y'know?

I am not sure what makes me more depressed about someone saying something so stupid:-

 

1=that proves we have learnt nothing from history

2=that means we are doomed to make and justify the same mistakes always make. 

 

-It doesn't matter if someone did worse acts than you, doesn't justify your evil. The British send 2000 White Cap Eastern Europeans back to Communist Russia, where they were roundly executed, now compared to some acts committed in WW2, refusing asylum and deporting ex-ally soliders may seem like a bush off act, but it is not, it is an evil act which must be atoned for. I use the British, because I am British, however every country has done things which it must account for and saying someone else did worse is no defence, it is that sort of thinking which led to 911 being justified by their enactors, but I suspect Americans are lot less willing to accept it as justifiable there and you know what, it isn't, because never justifiable excuse.

-I disliked this film because it felt disingenuous to me, like spill said, the whole Scott Thomas story could be binned, but I respect what message it was trying to convey across, which is that history must not be forgotten, sadly though instead of Scott story bringing this message home as should have, it convoluted it and detracted from the story which was bringing it home, quite well on its own, the girls story. :P  

-In short, I think spill have this about right, however for me only a rental because I just did not think we got enough of girls story to save it from the flat Scott Thomas story

The French were really missed up. African soliders help liberate France not just one or two but a large number, however when they were going to march to victory they did not let those group of black soldiers march.

My favorite kind of movies is action-adventure movies, but I also really enjoy films that have a really good storyline. I get hooked on a story well-told.

If one doesn't like movies like Life of David Gale, then one should keep his/her distance from this movie.

I really enjoyed watching this movie.

(Actually I was happy my wife made me watch this. I still resent having been tortured by the Twilight movies).
