If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Best news of the week? Best news of the week. Yesterday the studio behind the cult favorite "Saints Row" franchise teased yesterday on facebook that the next iteration in the popular franchise was coming, and sooner than we expected. Before long they revealed that Saints Row IV would be launching on August 20, 2013 in North America and August 23, 2013 for everyone else. Now Deep Silver, the company that bought Volition in the THQ asset auction, has released the following synopsis.
In the next open-world installment of Saints Row, Deep Silver Volition continues the story of the Third Street Saints by elevating their status to the highest level – the leaders of the free world. In Saints Row IV, the head honcho of the Saints has been elected to the Presidency of the United States. But the Saints are just getting started. Now the larger-than-life insanity of the Saints series gets a new twist with a catastrophic alien invasion, and the aliens have transported the Saints to a bizarro-Steelport simulation. Wield gargantuan superpowers and fight to free humanity from alien granddaddy Zinyak's mental grasp. Escape the simulation that's trapped the Saints crew, or die trying.
Saints Row IV lets players delve into an arsenal of alien weaponry and technology that will turn each Saint into an ultimate entity of destruction. Utilize out-of-this-world superpowers to fight all the way to the top. With intensified action and enhanced customization, players can use their newfound superpowers and leap over buildings, outrun the fastest sports cars, or send enemies flying with telekinesis in the greatest, most insane installment of Saints Row yet.
Save the world, Saints Style.
Well they seem to be trying to go even beyond what they set out to do in Saints Row the Third. Which is a tad disappointing. Saints Roiw the Third was a really fun game to play but just didn't quite have the impact Saints Row 2 had. Saints Row 2 had the perfect balance of drama and comedy. While Saints Row the Third just went balls out insane. Yet after reading the synopsis of Saints Row IV I can't honestly say I'm not extremely excited for this. It sounds like Saints Row combined with Crackdown and Destroy All Humans. If that sentence doesn't tickle your fancy in at least some fashion, then how do you still have fun playing video games?
Saints Row IV will release on August 23, 2013 for current gen consoles and PC. They have said there is no planned version for the Wii U.
Which of the Saints Row games is your favorite? Does SR IV sound like your type of game? Let your thought be known in the comments below.
