If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Aaron posted a statusBack in 1995, a film simply titled Judge Dredd was released in theaters. It was based on the comic (until he removed his helmet) and starred Sylvester Stallone("I am--the LAW!!), Diane Lane (she couldn't save this movie with her acting chops), and Rob Schneider (are you fucking kidding me??!!). That movie was indeed a fucking disaster. Now, in 2012, comes the Reboot titled Dredd 3D which sounds like a rollercoaster title but, hey, I'd ride that rollercoaster. In Mega City one, a Judge by the name of Dredd (Karl Urban) is training a psychic rookie named Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirbly) and investigates a residence known as Peach Trees which is run by the Mama Clan led by a disfigured prostitute turned drug dealer named Ma-Ma (Lena Heady). As soon as the judges enter Peach Trees, Ma-Ma immediately notifys her clan members and targets Dredd and Anderson while putting the whole apartment on lockdown. Dredd and Anderson must fight their way out if they want to survive.
Not for the faint of heart but, holy shit this movie is bloody. In Slo-Mo, people are so fucked up to the point of faces being shot with some nasty exit wounds and honestly, as nasty as it seems and looks, it also looks beautiful. This movie was shot in 3D and the results surely show that. From the beginning to the end, The 3D never disappoints. The depth is surely mesmorizing and there is a good amount of "let's throw shit out of the screen" stuff going on here. This ranks along with Prometheus, MIB3, Amazing Spiderman, and Resident Evil: Retribution as one of the best recent 3D movies. This movie does in fact have a simplistic story but who cares? Dredd doesn't and He's the Law! If anything, this Dredd does an effective job of wiping out the memories of the Stallone vehicle. If you're planning on seeing this, then shell out those extra bucks for the 3D version: it's worth it.
My Reel comment for Dredd 3D is- "The sentence is go see it in 3D and it eradicates the DREDDful memories of 1995 disaster"
