Plethora of Posters - 'Brave', 'Immortals', and more!

Apparently the first day of summer also marks the time when new posters start cropping up left and right:

First up we have the new one-sheet for Studio Ghibli's 'Arrietty' ('Kari-gurashi no Arietti'). Inspired by 'The Borrowers', Arriety is part of the Clock family - tiny people who make make their homes and items from things "borrowed" from a house's inhabitants. However, life changes for Arrietty when she is discovered by a human boy. Originally released last year, it will be making it's UK debut this year, and it's US release in early 2012 with a voice cast including Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, and Carol Burnett:

Next we have a sneak peek at Disney•Pixar's upcoming animated film 'Brave' (formerly 'The Bear and the Bow').The last of Pixar's original properties in production prior to the Disney buyout, 'Brave' has been revamped as the story of Meridia - a young Scottish princess whose interest in archery accidentally jeopardizes her father's kingdom:

Following along alphabetically, next up is C for 'Cowboys & Aliens'. Starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wilde, the film centers on a stranger (Craig) who arrives in town with a mysterious alien weapon attached to his wrist and the battle between the Old West and an attacking alien force. Sadly, still no sign of the Drew Struzan artwork we were hoping for - this is just another in a long line of paint-by-number posters with the blue-and-orange color scheme. Ooh! Lens flares!

Then we have the international poster for Guillermo Del Toro's 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark'. The film stars Guy Pearce, Katie Holmes, and Bailee Madison as a family who moves into an old Rhode Island mansion, only to unwittingly release a host of creatures from it's dark and crumbling underground chambers:

E is for 'everybody cut, everybody cut... Footloose!'. That's right, Paramount has released the first poster for their remake of the *chuckle* classic *chuckle* Kevin Bacon film 'Footloose' starring Kenny Wormald. The film that inspired a hundred "punchdance" routines, the movie centers around hip outsider Ren (Womald) who finds himself in a small midwestern town where all the kids really need to snap themselves out of their misery is a good ol' fashioned dance routine *jazzhands*. You can also see the newly released trailer HERE or see LEOG's very own Fish perform a dramatic re-enactment from last year's Spill Dot Con (don't you wish you could go this year?)

Skipping a couple letters we go straight to 'Immortals', directed by Tarsem Singh. However, rather than a single poster they've opted to make a whopping eight new posters, each featuring a different character from the sword-and-sandal film that pits Man against Gods. From top to bottom, left to right: Ares (Daniel Sharman), Athena (Isabel Lucas), King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke), Phaedra (Freida Pinto), Poseidon (Kellan Lutz), Stavros (Stephen Dorff), Theseus (Henry Cavill), and Zeus (Luke Evans). Finally, our last poster for the day comes to us from "across the pond", it's the UK one-sheet for the upcoming reboot 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' starring James Franco. The prequel/sequel/reboot/remake comes out August 12th, and you can see the new international trailer HERE.

as much as i get sick of that orange/blue contrast thing in so many posters...I am digging the new Cowboys & Aliens poster...looks very Summer-ish. and "Dont Be Afraid of the Dark" (which looks pretty creepy by the way)...pretty much all the posters are very fitting for their movies and nice....but THEN....Rise of the Planet of the Apes looks like some fanboy got bored and felt like photoshopping some stuff together to make a poster for it lol.

i mean i actually KIND OF want to see that movie, just because it looks like it might be fun, but WOW that is one ugly poster. it COULD have looked cool if it had more effort lol.

Harrison Ford looks like he was photoshopped out of the Rise of the Planet of the Apes poster, lol

@Rick Didaz That number's a bit higher now (41% I think?), but I'm excited for Brave. Pixar doing Celtic mythology is gonna kick ass.

You can have Planet of the Apes.  You can have Bewitched.  You can even have Transformers but you can never have...OUR FOOTLOOSE!

Pixar better kick ass with their next film.

Really hoping Brave is gonna make up for Cars 2, cause those reviews look shitty...

Im definitely getting a copy of that Brave poster. Im seeing Cars 2 just to see that teaser trailer, and the new Toy Story short. You definitely get your money's worth when you see a Pixar film.
