If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Continuing on the endless drought of original ideas in Hollywood, it has just been reported that 'Fast Five' star Paul Walker will be starring in the American remake of French action extravaganza 'District B13' ('Banlieue 13'). In the remake, Walker will play a detective trying to recover a deadly weapon from a drug dealer hiding in a ghetto called 'Brick Mansions'...which will also be the title of the remake. For help, he will turn to a parkour badass named Lino who knows the ghetto. Lino will be played by David Belle (who played the same role in the original film). The remake will be written by Luc Besson (writer of the original) and his 'Taken' co-writer Robert Mark Kamen. Although Besson's protege Pierre Morel ('Taken,' 'From Paris with Love'), this time around Besson is letting another of his padawans take the helm, although at this time he will not reveal who.
If you haven't seen the original film, I would highly advise slamming shut your laptop, or punching the off button on your desktop tower, and heading out to buy a copy. The action sequences featuring extended, nerve-shattering parkour are mind-blowing. I am glad that Besson and Belle are returning for this remake. It makes the news that Paul Walker will be in it a little easier to handle. If the film boasts a fraction of the incredible stunts of the original film, it will be Belle who steals the show. I mean come one, who's going to be paying attention to Paul Walker when his costar can do this...
