If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Clearly Adam McKay's 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues' isn't content compiling a cast list that only includes the returning members of the Channel 4 news team. So far, the roster of new acquisitions includes Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Greg Kinnear, and Harrison Ford. Now it appears that Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman will make an appearance in the film as well. The as-yet-unspecified role is said to be a cameo. It has also been reported that Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson, who both appeared in 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,' will also have cameos in the sequel. 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues' is currently shooting in Atlanta ahead of its December 20th release.
Nicole Kidman? Really? You know which highly-acclaimed actress I have an exceedingly difficult time associating with comedy? Nicole Kidman. She did star in 'Bewitched,' and the original news source points out that she made a cameo in Adam Sandler's 'Just Go With It,' but that sort proves my point. I did say I had a hard time associating her with comedy. In fact, the last time I liked her in a comedy, it was 1983's 'BMX Bandits.' Given the fact that this announcement came simultaneously with the news that Vaughn and Wilson are returning to the fray, my guess is that Kidman may turn up in another giant brawl scene much like the one in the first film. In fact, most of the first 'Anchorman's celebrity cameos came during the battle royale between the news teams from the various networks. If that is the nature of her cameo, I can imagine her being a vicious, axe-wielding weather girl or an extremely persuasive home shopping network host. Regardless, this is a very strange gig for Kidman.
What do you guys think? Are you surprised to see Kidman joining the cast? What do you think her cameo role will be?
