New Posters for 'John Carter' and 'Harry Potter'

Source: Apple

Remember that awesome hand-drawn piece of art that they used for the 'Super 8' poster? Or the 'Cowboys & Aliens' poster by Drew Struzan that Universal asked us to take down? Well, forget those entirely because instead we have the very first "text over a photo" poster from Disney's 'John Carter' (recently retitled from 'John Carter of Mars' to avoid any confusion with this years flop 'Mars Needs Moms'). Directed by Pixar alum Andrew Stanton ('Wall•E', 'Finding Nemo'), it is an adaptation of the classic novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs in which a Civil War vet who is transported to the alien world of Mars where he discovers a whole world of 12-foot tall green barbarians and a beautiful princess who is in desperate need of a savior:

Flipping over to another movie named after it's title character, we have this brand new poster from 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2' where the villains get to take center stage. Featuring Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort, Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange, and Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy, the film opens up in theaters on July 15th.

That new Harry Potter poster sucks ass.  Absolutely no imagination whatsoever. I agree with QbanKight, that other one is awesome! It's interesting how Warner uses a work of genius to sell that movie and then settles for a plethora of mediocrity once a hit formula is established.  They know full well that they can cut corners and use posters that the majority don't give a shit about (and cost nothing to produce) because people will see the movie regardless.

Is Heath Ledger back from the dead? That looks like him....

That's a great idea to put on a movie poster in unfriendly letters "IT ALL ENDS".

@Aaron - No, they're not involved. It's just directed by Andrew Stanton of Pixar fame. It's his first live-action film for Disney. There are some rumors that Disney•Pixar might do some of the character animation, but it hasn't been confirmed by the studio.

Why is it that Voldemort never smiles?

And that John Carter poster reminds me of something.

Is it just me or does Voldemort look like Littlefoot here?

Why is Pixar not mentioned on John Carter's poster? I thought they were a part of that too.

I think wizard don't use dry cleaners...jeez, everyone is so DIRTY....

And dear fuck me god, the Carter poster is crap! Disney is the LAST place I expect to get the stories right, but do they also have to use the Thor marketing as well??
