I'm not sold on the remake of Sam Raimi's 'Evil Dead,' and that is not because I am a stalwart when it comes to my beloved horror properties. I don't mind horror remakes, and have liked a great many of them. My reticence toward the new 'Evil Dead' is based on the marketing we've seen so far. I really didn't like that first trailer and now this poster makes a promise I hazard to say the movie cannot keep. Maybe I'm being too skeptical, but there's no denying its hyperbolic nature. Take a look at the poster below and let us know what you think.

The new 'Evil Dead' hits theaters April 12th, 2013

The bitching will never stop, first "omg no bruce cambell/ash character" then "omg its probably gonna be some PG13 bullshit" now after one trailer and one new poster "omg ttheyre just shoving gore and visual effects at us".

Some one lets the marketing guys run all over this saying.

"Hey let throw gore and tons of visual effects! All you need to make money is hype, lies, and pretty pictures (un-pretty in this case).

If there's one thing I don't like about how horror films are being marketed today, it's that too often they are marketed as "One of the most terrifying film experiences you'll ever have". It's becoming the newest gimmick in the genre, and the reason I don't like it is because it attempts to set your expectations too high. The biggest offender of this tagline is the Paranormal Activity series; Only 2 of the 4 films in it are worth watching, and even so, they're just okay at best. I remember going to see the first film with the rouse being that it was truly terrifying, and even after I watched it for the first time, I thought it wasn't nearly as scary as the marketing made it out.

Off the top of my head, the only horror films I can recall living up to this tagline are Trick r Treat, and Cabin In the Woods. Hopefully, this stupid tagline will disappear in the same way that "Based on true events" is finally starting to go away.

No, that title belongs to The Exorcist

Rec was bullshit to me

@Arsène Lupin the Third ... Have you seen REC? The best Horror movies rarely come from Holywood, specially with this PG13 crazyness.

I loved the way the new trailer looked, but this poster is boring

This makes me think of the ending of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
