New Images from 'The Adventures of Tin Tin'

Source: Comic Book Movie

Stills from the upcoming computer-animated, motion-capture adaptation of the beloved comic strip 'The Adventures of Tintin' show a wide array of characters. Tintin (voiced by Jamie Bell) sets out on an adventure to find a sunken ship that was once under the command of Captain Haddock's (Andy Serkis) ancestor. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film is a collaborative effort between scriptwriters Steven Moffat ('Doctor Who'), Edgar Wright ('Scott Pilgrim vs. The World') and Joe Cornish ('Attack the Block'). The film will be in theaters December 23rd.

I like the visual style, except Tin TIn still looks weird to me.

You know, this choice of style for the film, is honestly really starting to grow on me. I mean, ok now that i know its not suppost to be photorealistic, and there harking back to the comics...ok, i understand that. Makes sense

Its just, films like beowulf, and xmas carol, that while amazing films in there own right (2 i have yet to buy on blu ray for some reason),  i saw no need what so ever for them to be animated when they would have worked perfect as live action.

I remember watching the short live HBO show back in the 90s. When I first learned about the character I thought he just came out of nowhere, and they just made him dated.

uncanny valley my ass. the animation on this film looks gorgeous and is loads better than the Zemeckis zombies. Peter Jackson explained it best: "these are photorealistic people, but they are also Herge' people." exaggerating the character designs on the mocap was a fantastic idea because not only does it prevent the animators from being restrained to "they have to look 100 percent like ordinary people", but it gives the audience more room to suspend their disbelief

I actually have some hope for this film. Anything new and original is welcomed. I don't need another Ice Age or Cars movie.
