It's one of my favorite movies of all time, and I didn't see the need to go back and explain away all of the spooky mysteries of the story. But even I can't pretend to be anything but awestruck by these new images from Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus.' The images, from the pages of Entertainment Weekly (via Bloody Disgusting), show various cast members--including Noomi Repace, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, and Charlize Theron--as well as the beautiful, and evidentally elaborate, sets that will create the world of the film. Stunning, just stunning. Take a look below and tell us what you think.

Comment by Christian Bergman Jr. on November 27, 2011 at 6:51am Umm ... you're making a 'hybrid' point ... but not one about them not being examples of genuine sci-fi. It's not really about the aesthetic, its about the ideas being explored. Specifically, the McGuffin through which these ideas are being explored - like a piece of technology or an advancement in science. The aesthetic comes secondary and doesn't really matter. Nothing more than a trope.
Source Code does have a sci-fi aesthetic btw.
Both Source Code and Inception were primarily thrillers in a sci-fi back ground. Even Alien had a large horror theme and little genuine sci-fi. There are few hard sci-fi movies. Sunshine, Primer and 2001 come to mind. Sci-fi has become a background because of the interest ideas and scenery. It is also introduced for plot convenience as well. Everything is possible in the future.
I have no problem with this since I love stuff like The Matrix where the sci-fi makes no sense but its fucking awesome!
havent runied anything. if you look it up ridley have said in an interview that the space jockey seen in the alien movie is just a spacesuite and inside is a human like creature !
Comment by Christian Bergman Jr. on November 26, 2011 at 7:05pm You mean a genuine space drama? 'Cos Source Code and Inception already counts as 'genuine' Sci-Fi.
Comment by Ocramed on November 26, 2011 at 5:12pm Finally, a genuine sci-fi film.
Comment by Chaos Jumper on November 26, 2011 at 4:14pm We shall see . . . .
Comment by James Langley on November 26, 2011 at 2:06pm Blimey, this has me extremely excited. Scott always directs in a restrained and mature fashion, so again turning his talents to sci-fi will certainly yield good results.
Comment by Kyle Roger on November 26, 2011 at 1:15pm If i may be a bit pessimistic: Breathtaking? Stunning? I'm going to have to see a little more than this to draw those conclusions. @ cataclysm - "Better be a good damn reason there's a human face on the alien derelict." I don't see how there could be, unless the aliens are suppose to be smarter than we thought all of a sudden, which would be dumb. We would have another Jurassic Park 3 on our hands.
Comment by Christian Bergman Jr. on November 26, 2011 at 12:53pm Right, 1) THANKS Lasse, you couldn't have ruined it with more efficiency 2) It, as things tend to at this stage, looks quite ropy so aside from these being the very first images to come from the film, I'm not quite won over by its look and 3) ... It's being shot in (digital) 3D anyway and that's quite revealing in ALL of the wrong ways. At what point is this going to be creepy because this, to me, seems like the wrong way to go about the film.
