For those of you that don't know South Park recently aired a two part episode that had the islamic prophet Muhammad in it keep in mind that he was never shown in the episode and one of the jokes was that he had to be put in a bear suit so that the town of south park doesn't get blow up and apparently they were going to show the image of Muhammad in the next episode however some crazy islamic radical website sent death threats to the creators of South Park Trey Parker and Matt Stone even going so far as to show a picture of Theo Van Gogh a filmmaker who was killed because he made a short film about the way women are treated in Islam. So because of this Comedy Central added extra bleeps to the second part of the episode bleeping out the word Muhammad and bleeping out the "What I learned today" speech at the end of the episode which according to Trey and Matt had nothing to do with Muhammad and Islam. They recently posted this on their website regarding the controversy.
"In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show
that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to
Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It
wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In
fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It
didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back
next week with a whole new show about something completely different and
we'll see what happens to it".
I think that it's really sad to see Comedy Central just give in to this bullshit I mean South Park has been around since the 90's and it has pretty much offended everybody but this is the first ever where things have gotten so bad that someone posted fucking death threats to Trey and Matt when they really didn't mock or portray Muhammad in a bad way hell they even portrayed him in a positive way in "Super Best Friends".
Again I think Comedy Central should have just told whoever posted those death threats this "Hey we understand what your saying but see here's the thing we don't follow your religion so we can show the image of Muhammad on our show" or something like that but to just give in and say "Oh, sorry Mr.Muslim extremist you're right we're wrong we'll make sure we'll never do anything to mock the Islamic faith again" I mean wow just wow that just goes to show you that Comedy Central is run by a bunch of cowards I mean it's okay to show Buddha doing coke or Jesus looking at porn but it's not okay to show Muhammad oh no.
I really hate to sound like an asshole but I think it's really hard to buy Islam as a peaceful religion when people who claim to follow it keep doing crazy shit like this.Oh and what really pisses me off is that because of this controversy Comedy Central has also taken down the episode "Super Best Friends" from the main website. I mean what's next huh? Are they gonna take down cartoon wars because they mention Muhammad?
I really think that Muslims should try and learn to deal with this type of stuff I mean let's face it the world we live in is not perfect so instead of sending out death threats to people you don't even know maybe you could just learn and except the fact that no everyone in this world shares your views on things because they don't follow your religion.
