Hello Spillios and other lovers of movies.
Director Steve McQueen's(No. Not the actor from "Bullitt"or "The Great Escape") new movie "Shame" has been labled NC-17 by the MPAA. In it Michael Fassbender("X-Men: First Class") plays Brandon a man whose sex addiction may be exposed when his sister Sissy Carey Mulligan("Drive") comes ro stay. At least that's what IMDB and trailers led me to belive that's what's this story about.
This may not apeal to all of you and that's fine, but I do feel like this should have the same shot all other movies have. Unfortuanetly with this being slapped with this rating a lot of publications won't air ads for it and most theatres refuse to show it. This has been a very critcal hit so far and I want to check this out, but I'm afraid I'll have to wait for DVD to see it. We all know that America has a problem with sex but not with violence in our entertainment. Is this something we want to just accept or do you want to do something to stop this. Wouldn't it be nice for mature adults to see a movie meant for adults and not have people bring thier kids in. I applaud Fox Searchlight for not holding back and releasing this with the NC-17 rating, and I hope this gets some awards this season. Later on I might plan to get a petiton together to send to the big movie chains asking them to stop banning movies that are higher than R.
