Here in Austin, we are just now starting to shake off the debris of another SxSW. With its film, music, and interactive portions, this three-headed monster tends to wreak havoc upon our city for a couple weeks every year. During the music section of this year's fest, Forbes spoke with rapper-turned-actor-turned-rapper-again T.I. (nee Clifford Harris) about his upcoming projects. Normally, this wouldn't warrant mentioning in our movie news section, except that T.I. let slip a very interesting piece of news. He offered up that not only will he be working with Doug Liman and Tom Cruise on a new film, as well as having an arc on the TV series 'Boss,' but he also hinted about a "Marvel comic franchise" that has been "inquiring about his availability." Check out the 3:10 mark of the below video...
So obviously the question becomes, which franchise/which character is Marvel looking at for T.I.? Power Man? Probably not. Bishop? Unlikely. They're already rebooting Spider-Man this year so it's a safe bet that he'll not be playing Miles Morales' Ultimate version anytime soon. My best guess, after looking at the current projects on the table for Marvel producer Avi Arad, is that he's talking about Black Panther. Despite the fact that T.I. has a few films already under his belt, I'm not sold on him as an actor. It's not that I think he's incapable of pulling off Black Panther necessarily, but I feel it's going to take a great director and one hell of a script to make it work. But I could very well be wrong about this being the proposed project, T.I. was careful not to say anymore than "Marvel franchise"
Are there any other characters you think he could be talking about? Would he work for any of them?

Comment by Kallabronn on March 28, 2012 at 8:39pm I vote Billy for Powerman
Djimon Hounsou, Peter Mensah would be good choices too for Black Panther.
But judging from 50's last movie, the one where he lost weight christian bale style. I would like him as black panther too, he is "just now" showing some real acting chops.
Give T.I. the trainer that prepped toby maguire for spiderman, slap 20 lbs of muscle on his ass and he could black panther. Id be interested, more so if he was an element for Avengers 2.

Comment by Cubano_con_Armas on March 26, 2012 at 1:38pm Ok, Fuck This! Fuck Marvel! Fuck Avi Arad! T.I. is not a fucking actor! Nuff Said!

Comment by VinnyLT on March 26, 2012 at 12:48pm If thety do make a Cloak and Dagger series... it has to be on an epic level. like Watchmen to make an impact because comicbook geeks might know who they are but not regular movie goers.
Comment by Joey A on March 26, 2012 at 1:12am Cloak seems like he could be him . While I know there are light skin brothers in Africa . The Black Panther is not one of them . Besides that it is tiny ... Also with that being said TI did save someone's life so he is a real life hero . Yet they sent him to jail a,d let Lilo go free. What a world.
