Marc Forster set to direct 'World War Z'!

Variety broke the news today that Paramount has set "Quantum of Solace" director Marc Forster to helm "World War Z," based on the Max Brooks bestselling novel about a worldwide infestation of flesh-eating zombies.

"Changeling" scribe and comic book writer J. Michael Straczynski is taking care of the screenplay, and Brad Pitt's Plan B is producing.

As for "WWZ," "The genre always fascinated me, and when they pitched it to me, it reminded me of the paranoid conspiracy films of the '70s like 'All the President's Men,' " Forster told Daily Variety.

Wow, and just when I thought this project might have been "dead"- pun intended, I get this good news. Well here's to hoping they don't screw it up.

Oh and by the way, when the Zombie War does break out, watch out for sock puppet zombies! They're the worst!

The book was amazing, and I am generally just not impressed by Zombie anything. I picked up the book with no idea what it was about, rather knowing that it was Mel Brooks' spawn. I expected something in the vein of Christopher Moore (wonder how long it will take Hollywood to grab his books?), but what I got was palpable dread and tension. Please, I'd rather see it cancelled than jacked up.

:D I am so happy now right, I love zombies.I too thought this project was dead, so it's nice to hear something about it.

Wasn't the book kinda just different stories put together? I mean, I'm not complaining. But I don't even remember if I finished reading it to the end. I think it'd be an awesome movie, coming from different people than the ones we're used to. Romero, Savini and other people. Come on! Don't let Max Brooks down.

That's freaking amazing. Haven't got around to reading it yet, but I do own The Zombie Survival Guide and I find Brook's take on zombies extremely compelling from the sheer detail and care he puts into writing about them.

Can't fucking wait . Sadly I haven't read the book yet ( It's been on my list of ''Books to get'' for YEARS ) I will get it before the movie comes out

This film is going to be expensive as shit though .

A zombie movie with hyper editing and spliced scenes of horse racing during interesting parts....meh

Lets face it, there is no way in hell this movie will be as good as the book.
