Given that Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' doesn't come out until 2013, we sill have plenty of time for the leakage of more plot details, set photos, and--as in this most recent case--casting news. It seems Snyder is loading up on talent to occupy the roles of the Smallville citizenry. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane having already been cast as Jonathan and Martha Kent, Kal-El's adoptive Earth parents, we can now add Lana Lang, the girlfriend of teeange Clark Kent, into the mix as well. But not grownup Lana Lang from 'Superman III' (as played by Annette O'Toole), and not high school age Lana Lang from the 'Smallville' TV series (as played by Kristin Kreuk). This Lana Lang will be played by 13-year-old Jadin Gould. Gould has previously appeared in 'Battle Los Angeles' as well as episodes of 'Chuck,' 'Dexter,' and 'The United States of Tara.' Gould is set to appear as Lana in a flashback scene according to reports.

I've seen other sites reporting that this bit of casting is evidence that much of Snyder's Superman film will take place in Smallville, but I don't subscribe to that interpretation. For one thing, it is explicitly stated that Gould is appearing as Lana in a flashback scene which, while not bound by law to be so, are typically brief. Plus, I can't imagine that a Superman movie featuring a reboot of the General Zod story is then going to spend copious amounts of screen time delving into Clark Kent's past. I suppose it is possible, but it doesn't strike me as something that would make for an effective story, especially since that aspect of his life has already had ten seasons of exploration. It'll be interesting to see how this flashback fits into the plot and whether, a little further down the road, there's an announcement that another actress will be playing an older version of Lana; possibly appearing in Clark's life again around the same time as the appearance of Zod. That too, however, is speculative.

What do you guys think?

I really hope the Remote Viewing clue is not on this story as it will be really difficult for me to say Body Massage in the comment section of this news story.

Call me in ten years when this movie is nothing but a one-off distant memory that everyone's trying to forget.

I just hope she isn't as detestable and boring in this as she was in Smallville. She was the only bad thing about that show.
