WHY?! WHy the fuck are they dragging up cult classics and gems of the past just to shit all over them with their sleek new movie gloss?
The Dark Crystal is going to have a sequel that relies heavily on CGI. The whole point of the first movie was to prove that puppetry could be used as a fine cinimatic art form. Henson's going to crawl up from the ground and deal some zombie rage on whoever greenlit this. It was probably his daughter, by the way.
Heavy Metal as a live action movie. Heavy Metal was a horrible animated movie but I loved it because I had never seen anything like it before. It was a crash course in sex and violence for little version of me. Without it, I might not have gone down the artistic roads I did and probably wouldn't have my career.
As a live action movie, it will lose the only saving grace it had. It was an assortment of random violent wet dreams that didn't connect...just like the comics from the magazines. It also was never really mean to be a blockbuster sucess. It was underground. How the hell are they going to make a feature movie based on a cult phenomenon with no story?

I completely agree that these remakes are nothing more than atrocities.
Watching The Dark Crystal is one of my youngest and fondest memories, and when I watched it recently I realized that it is probably the only movie that looks better than the shit that is put on the big screen today.
For some greedy production company to want to make a quick buck from a classic being rehashed is horrible, but there may be a silver lining to this cloud. Whenever a movie is remade, the classic is suddenly brought back into the limelight, and people go back to compare the two.
