ok first off nobody should see this film without atleast a breif knowlege of the plot from the cartoon. if you don't atleast know a small amount of the cartoon you won't get the film the way m knight shamalan portrays it.

so other than that this film was painful.

i didnt want to go into this film feeling like it'd be another dragonball z evolution buuuuttttt i kinda saw it coming.

lets take a look at what made airbender: the last avatar a good show first.

the emotion of war that we see as they travel and what the war is driving people to. whether it be good like the kyoshi warriors or bad like jet.

the humor and innocence of aang, i mean come on the boy is twelve of course he's gonna want to have some fun while saving the world.

and of course the mystery of the characters and relationships. will katara be with jet or zuko is haru a new contender, does aang have a chance at love we all love the guessing
and also with the fire lord not seeing his face or knowing whos good or evil. and how zuko got his scar i liked the way that everyone else DIDN'T know the truth of how he got it which kind of made you think about how ozai was pulling a stalin move and keeping things under the rug from his people.

there is NO mystery to anything that happens the bad guys tell you what they're going to do, aang just breezes through how he got into the iceberg, and they don't think about how to use the set that they're in.

things are done so stupidly!

i mean you take a bunch or earth benders prisoner and there is one earthbender left you don't think his mom is going to say "hey don't earth bend or they'll trake you away like your dad"

and if you take earth benders prisoner you should take them where they can't bend not a big patch of earth. they can overcome you!! and if they can't then the fire nation either labodmized them or earth benders are retarded!!!

also when general zoah or however you spell his name just gives plots away by talking to the firelord or tell iroh that hes planning to kill the moon spirit.

speaking of which if iroh is suposed to be sooo angry that he was gonna kill the moon spirit you'd think that he'd do something like in the series

but noooooo he stands there watching zoah take out a map and say " this is where the spirits are i found this when i raided and spirit library" (that might just be actual dialouge) he looks at it like "ooohh i see could i possible ask you NOT to kill the spirit? please?"

another thing was that the bender was hilariously terrible. i'm not saying recreate the exact moves of the show but the show did detail out what element did what kind of martial art.(although i'll be honest i busted out laughing at how reducuilous earthbending was.)

why is aang so serious?!?! he's an airbender?! you know light happy they detachted themselves from the world to be free. this aang is so stone faced i thought m knight told him:

"your the avatar and avatars don't fuck around even if they are 12 and if you smile once in this film i'll firebend you into jerky i can do it because all the fire benders look like me!!"

i mean the whole book one was bringing him down and helping him understand the importance of taking things seriously

why is every tan, indian, or middle eastern person a firebender? i know m knight is...whatever he is (indian i think) but really?? REALLY!? they don't fire bend they just set things on fire...(racist's are gonna have a field day with that one.)

iroh is the only one who can fire bend and he has been made a bitch with dreadlocks!
he is nothing like iroh exceot in name only....wait actually they changed his name pronounciation too so... thats that then.

katara once a firey BAMF waterbender who told what was on her mind and had a kind of hero complex to help others. she has turned into bella from twilight.

her only reason for being there is to not listen to her brother, tell the voiceover, get beat up by zuko in 2 shots, and bother aang when he is clearly in the spirit world or meditating.

after a while i just wanted her to go away.

the only person i like really was yue because she was a smidge helpful and not a complete dunce. and when she died it was actually cool. momo and appa were cool effects too.

sokka aka so-ka as it's pronounced now all he did was bitch about how "I HAVE TO PROTECT PEOPLE AND MY SISTER" then he gets friggin captured. the funny sarcastic protective charateristics of sokka were not there at all and it pissed me the fuck off.

in the whole movie nobody smiled except for azula, who we all know only smiles at the thouhgt of something evil or terrible.

aang and the gaang have turned into retards. instead of hidding the fact that the avatar has returned to get a sneaky upperhand on the fire nation THEY ARE LIKE ANNOUCING IT FROM THE ROOF TOPS, they may aswell go to the fire nation and be like

"HEY LOOK I'M THE AVATAR AND I HAVENT LEARNED ANY OF THE OTHER ELEMENTS COME N GET MEH FIRE LORD SLOWWW-ZAI!!!" they're like putting up posters and having like an avatar has returned party in the middle of a city.
i mean really?!?!

i know your trying to get through everthing quickly but damn!have some tact and respect for the series to transition from one thing to the other nicely

why are there key characters missing?!

how are they going to do lake laogai in the future without jet. if the even do that, which i think they might not, and if they didnt it'd be a mistake.

where is king bumi to teach aang about thinking in a diffrent way he actually uses that to defeat the fire lord by not killing him but energybending him.

suki and the kyoshi warriors?!?! how will they cross the serpents pass to get to ba sing se? how will azula and her 'small elite team' sneak into ba sing se? how will the escape the boiling rock (ok that episode i can see being cut out ) but suki is the love interest of sokka and is a key character in season three?!?

watching this movie made my head hurt, and majorly depressed me. i'm not saying that they should have made the live action exactly like the series but with a series THAT BAD ASS already you should have lived up to the original's standards OR surpassed them.

my rating for this wouldn't be that you should never see it, but i would say get it on bootleg or movie hop it because the only reason to watch this was to laugh at the ridiculous parts where they are bending or watchin katara get beat up or at how cheesy the diaolouge is.

i dont blame any of the actors for how terrible this was ecspecially not that noah kid who played aang because his martial art skills were neat. but theyre script just sucked!!and ok maybe i blame that chick who played katara a bit...moving on now!

M. knight shamalan your known for putting twist's into your movie the twist in this one was that the whole movie was a trap!!
