Heavy Rain is an interactive film noir video game made by the French company Quantic Dream who were responsible for the best seller Fahrenheit or as its know in America as the Indigo Prophecy. Now what sets these video games from other main stream releases is that they are modelled after movies. In fact it feels like you’re playing a movie rather than a game. Now some people don’t have a very high tolerance for games such as these, wishing to play something with more action like Halo or Gears of War. Arguing that these games have too much story but not enough plot. Now in the case of Heavy Rain there are some elements of truth to this. So join me as we pick this game and its “Plot” apart.

Now bear in mind one of the key features in this game are the multiple choices you can make so if you decide to play this game, most likely my story’s outcome may be different to yours due to the decisions I made while playing.

Those black outs are a huge plot hole, it's so stupid.

Beat it now, and I liked it a lot. It really reminded me of AVGN or Nostalgia Critic, but those are compliments in my book. It sounds like you did the commentary while recording the game. While this may make for some more spontaneous recordings, it means that the audio quality took a hit since it sounded like the camera was recording both you and the game. Recording each of them separately would allow you to lower the volume of the game while you are talking. I hope that you'll make a Part Two.

No worries guys and thanks for leaving your comments. Yeah sorry about the technical issue with the sound. I'm gonna head out to buy a proper microphone so that should sort everything out. So I will definitely be doing a part 2. But its nice to see everyone leaving their comments :)

Sorry, I'm in the middle of the game right now, and it sounds like you might talk about what happens in the game. I will see it after I finish though.

I'm a few minuets in, and I think the review is great, just the audio is a bit hard to hear, with the games audio and your voice with the really loud fan (I think that's what it is, coming from your Playstation) are clashing together making it hard to make out what your saying.

Eh. I thought you missed the whole story in those "pointless moments", they are meant to build background for the characters and they allow the player to experience visual comparisons between the old and new story for Ethan Mars and his miscellaneous "crew". Otherwise, great job.

Great review. I'll probably pick up this game eventually, once the price drops a bit. I played the demo, and as far asinteractive games go, this is way better than anything I've experienced on the Wii!

Actually I LOVE this game I'm just taking the piss out it, don't get me wrong there are loads of pointless moment its just takes a while to get into. After the first 40 minutes is when the plot actually kicks in but people who play this really play it for the story and not so much for the gameplay. And you get really sucked in the procces while you're at it. Its kind of like Mass Effect which every single decision you make can effect the game, which is what I like about it.

And yes the start is a sort of prologue because you teaches how to engage in conversation and how to use the buttons. You just happen to being doing mundane shit like shaving, drinking orange juice from the fridge. Nothing too exciting, that all happens a bit later.

So thanks for leaving the first comment mate

Good review Nick. I was thinking of buying this later on but after seeing how they fitted in such a crappy start i don’t think i will. Is the Start like some sort of tutorial at least so that you can learn anything or its is complete irrelevant?
