If it's crap ... We'll tell you
There are only two slots remaining in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' roster, or at least on the titular team. So far we have Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, and Michael Rooker as Yondu. That just leaves Groot and Rocket Racoon. While the most recent piece of casting news does not move us any closer to completing the team, it does potentially reveal clues as to who the Guardians may be battling. Ophelia Lovibond ('Mr. Popper's Penguins') has just landed a supporting role in James Gunn's upcoming blockbuster. Details are sparse, although it was originally reported that Lovibond would be playing an aide to The Collector, a character who gathers artifacts he wishes to save from a foretold galactic annihilation. The initial report has since been amended; removing these specifics. 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is set to be released August 1, 2014.
It's really strange that such specific details of Lovibond's character would be revealed, and then immediately removed. Given that the only two remaining Guardians left to cast are both male, it's a cinch Ophelia will not be one of them. So it makes sense that she would end up as someone on the more antagonistic side of things. However, we had previously been told that The Controller, not The Collector would be the secondary villain to Thanos. Granted, none of this, not even Thanos' involvement has been confirmed by the studio, and frankly this smoke and mirrors game is becoming baffling. My guess is that no matter who the secondary villain is, assuming there is one, Lovibond will function in the same capacity as did Alexis Denisof's The Other in 'The Avengers.' I can't really speak to my enthusiasm at her casting, as I don't think I've ever seen her in anything.
What do you guys think? Do you think the The Collector or The Controller will appear in 'Guardians of the Galaxy?' How do you think Lovibond might fit in?
