First Official Pic From 'The Wolverine'
Currently filming in Japan and Australia, Fox's upcoming X-sequel 'The Wolverine' has released it's first official image of actor Hugh Jackman as the title character and what can we say? Well, "that's a whole lotta veins" comes to mind. But past that, it looks like Jackman has worked his ass off getting back in shape for the role and while I think most of us would rather forget that 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' ever happened, it sounds like Fox and director James Mangold are really hoping to reinvigorate the franchise with this installment.

The official film synopsis:
"Based on the celebrated comic book arc, The Wolverine finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed"
As ripped as Jackman is, this first picture doesn't really say much for the project as a whole. Yes, he has claws. Yes, it's in some kind of Buddhist temple. Yes, he is grizzled (thankfully, minus the serious 70's "flying wing" haircut). Comic fans have to hope - after the popular 'X-Men: First Class' exceeded fan expectation - that Fox has finally learned their lesson and will try to remain more faithful to the character, especially with rumors swirling that the forthcoming 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' may be a kind of "soft reboot" to the company's entire X-Men franchise (and honestly, any chance to kick Baraka Laserbeam Deadpool out of continuity is worth it).

I'm excited for this movie, but honestly? I don't think it's going to do that well. The X-Men franchise still has a a lot of stank on it, and while 'First Class' was a solid movie it still underperformed. Unless this turns out to be absolutely fantastic, I just can't see the average movie-goer caring that much...Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is close to becoming utterly played out for me. We shall see...
