If it's crap ... We'll tell you
While we have yet to see the results of JJ Abrams' last "top-secret" film project ('Super 8' arrives on June 10th), the dynamic duo of Monica Breen and Alison Schapker have been brought in to re-write his next big hush-hush film, tentatively called 'Zanbato'.
Little is known about the project (which is kind of the point of "top secret"), other than it involves Japanese history and "swashbuckling robots with swords". And no... before the rumors start to pile up, it's not just a cheeky cover-story for a Voltron movie. While that's not a lot to go on, remember that Abrams is known for his teasers - "swashbuckling robots" may seem like a silly idea for a movie, but this is the studio that brought us a monster-based disaster film ('Cloverfield') and a rebooted 'Star Trek' franchise.
Breen and Shapker, who recently re-upped a 7-figure deal to continue exec-producing Fox's 'Fringe', are best known for their writing and producing work on several other projects for Abrams' Bad Robot Productions, such as TV's Lost and Alias. They've also penned a "heightened reality" crime drama named 'Pulp' that may be adapted into a graphic novel for WB's DC Comics.
