Basically this blog is a collection of scenes where characters break out into song and/or dance in movies that are horror, sci-fi, comedy, drama, but definitely NOT musicals!
For some reason, these are some of my favorite moments in films. Last time I left out a lot since there are way too many to put into just one blog! So I have decided to do a part 2 in order to name a few more. Also, please feel free to post any of your favorites I missed. In case you missed out on the previous blog I did, CLICK HERE.
Shaun of the Dead - A couple of people commented on my last blog mentioning this one. The characters don't exactly break out into dance, but they are beating up a zombie in rhythm to the music, so it should definitely count!
Southland Tales - To be honest, I haven't seen this movie. Don't really plan on seeing it anytime soon either. But this particular scene is pretty awesome, and is surprising that Budweiser hasn't bought the rights to it for using it as a beer commercial.
From Dusk Till Dawn - Really, this one needs no introduction.
The Last Dragon - Blaxploitation meets Bruceploitation (for those of you who don't know what Bruceploitation is, its a genre of exploitation films that tried to cash in on Bruce Lee's name and image after he died, hiring actors who were Bruce Lee impersonators and advertising the film with Lee's name in the title most the time.), the character here is some kind of MTV host. Cheesy 80's dance music ensues.
Napolean Dynamite - For me and probably most other people, this was the highlight of Napolean Dynamite.
Jacob's Ladder - Dance scene at a party turns into a sex scene with the devil! Hail Satan!
Desperado - Great introduction to an action movie about a guitarist turned gunslinger!
Death Proof - Another lap dance scene worth mentioning!
Batman - Why Chrisopher Nolan didn't have Heath Ledger dance to Prince music in the Dark Knight is beyond me.
Evil Dead 2 - This scene is kind of Burton-esque. Always gets a good laugh from my friends at the end when I show them this movie for the first time.
Breakfast Club - I think the 80's was a good time for having scenes where characters randomly break out into dance numbers. Here's another one from a more well known movie.
Teen Wolf - And of course another.
Inland Empire - Found myself mentioned another Lynch film in this blog. I have tons of respect for Lynch but at the same time I can't stand this movie. I do love the look on Laura Dern's face though in the reaction of this random dance scene.
The Punisher - Wait a second, didn't I already mention desperado? hmmm.... Oh well. Interesting to see a character threaten violence against another character through song.
Back to the Future - Now probably the most classic scene in this entire blog! Music from the future!
Update: Here are a couple more good ones that were just recommended to me in the comment section below. And also another one I just remembered.
