In addition to penning the script for Mandate's upcoming film 'Lamb of God', writer and pop culture personality Diablo Cody is set to make the film her directorial debut as well. Cody - the writer of 'Juno', 'Jennifer's Body', and the Showtime series 'The United States of Tara' - has signed on to helm the film with Mason Novick ('500 Days of Summer') producing.
Currently being fast-tracked by the studio, 'Lamb of God' is the story of a prim young religious conservative girl who loses her faith after a fateful plane crash and instead decides to move to Las Vegas to pursue the life of a sinner. However, along the way and through a series of events, she eventually rediscovers her faith along the way. Now, that may not sound like everyone's cup of tea, but considering the writer involved it's a safe bet that the themes of the film will be far deeper than just a lot of conservative religious back-patting.
Cody will be re-teaming with 'Juno' director Jason Reitman for the comedy 'Young Adult', and has several other projects in development, including 'Sweet Valley High' for Universal, and an untitled project with Steven Spielberg attached.
