Dan Aykroyd & Chevy Chase Teaming Up For A New Comedy?

If you're a fan of 80s comedies, or of laughing in general, then I don't need to explain to you the greatness of Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase. Separately, they gave us films like 'The Blues Brothers,' 'Fletch,' 'Ghostbusters,' and 'National Lampoon's Vacation.' And then together, they treated us to the espionage farce 'Spies Like Us.' The two have not worked together since 1991's 'Nothing But Trouble,' but that collaborative silence appears to be at an end. Aykroyd dropped this bombshell via his Facebook page...

Chevy (Chase) and I are about to start work on a script concept for a comedy movie. Cannot say too much about the concept, but the joy of working with him again is one that I am extremely excited about. Chevy is one of my favourite people, and one of the great anarchistic and physically committed comedians in the business.

So the question of course becomes, are they just writing a script or are they also planning to star in this supposed comedy? There is also the possibility, which needs to be addressed, that this is some sort of gag. Even two years ago, I would have been exceedingly dubious of any news that was relayed through celebrity social media. However anymore, it's proven more often than not to be a legitimate news source as more and more celebs use the medium to connect with fans and keep themselves in the public eye. There is also the fact to be considered that it makes complete sense that Aykroyd would be seeking out collaborations with other former comedy partners after what seems to be an increasingly unpleasant divide growing between he and Bill Murray during this whole 'Ghostbusters 3' debacle. With Chevy's resurgence on NBC's 'Community,' and with Aykroyd preparing to appear in the new Will Ferrell/Zach Galifianakis comedy 'The Campaign,' the time seems right for these two to reconnect. If it is true, color me ecstatic.

What do you guys think? Are excited about these two luminary funnymen joining forces again?

Never understood the Chevy Chase appeal.  He's never really been funny.  I don't suspect this movie will be any different.

Yup Bill Murray is a genius but Ghost Busters 3 was going to be a next generation film anyway, might as well crash a Chevy into that film..

I am excited to see these two comic greats getting back together for another round. I am curious to see what they come up with. Here's hoping it is great.

well.....dan couldn't get bill to join him on ghostbusters III, since bill knows it GIII will suck.

and chevy will do anything.  might as well.

I can go for this. One thing that everyone will definatly agree on is that it has to be written well. On a different note though, I don't know this for sure, but Chase was working with a lot of other big Hollywood names to make something that was ripping on the movie industry that just keeps making crappy remakes, Friedberg/Seltzer comedies, manipulating originals and blockbuster flops. Basically just telling Hollywood in a funny way stop being a business and get back to being an art form. Is this possibly related? I don't know.

I thin this is a last afford for Aykroyd to stay credible in the movie world

Wow, this would be so awesome... if it was 1986 when the two of them were consistently entertaining in films.
