One thing that stood out about the official plot synopses Marvel released not too long ago for some of its upcoming films was that they were essentially the vague descriptions you'd see on the back of the DVD. A lot of noise was made about the reveal of these synopses even though we ultimately learned very little about the films. The reverse side of the coin of course is a situation like today's in which a Marvel employee, during the Bombard Radio podcast, spilled some major beans about 'Thor: The Dark World.' He goes into very specific detail about some of the key plot points. So if you don't want at least part of the movie spoiled for you, do not read any further. Otherwise, here's what he said...
"Thor becomes reunited with Jane who becomes possessed by a Dark Spirit, which is connected with the Dark Elves; a race the Asgardians have fallen out with many years beforehand [...] The Dark Elves attack Asgard, and they take a huge hit. So Thor has to rebuild Asgard by putting together an army to go and take the battle to the Dark Elves and defeat them. But the only way he can do this is – he needs to cross over to the Dark World, and the only person who has access to the dark side of Asgard is his old brother Loki, who at the beginning of the film is locked up in prison. So what happens is Thor basically has to negotiate this truce with Loki, and he goes on this great trek with Jane, all three of them. They go to this far side of Asgard, which is being shot in Iceland, where they train and assemble an army to go and attack the Dark Elves’ world."
And here's the big shocker (SERIOUS SPOILER)...
"But the exclusive twist…is that one of the things that happens during the Asgardian attack is that Thor’s mother gets killed. So it becomes like a vengeance thing. And they were keeping very tight-lipped about what actually happens with Loki, you don’t know whether he redeems himself or he’s still the bad egg."
Wow, well that explains how the alliance will form between Loki and Thor. Though Loki seemed pretty set on abandoning the affections of his adopted father, it's not hard to understand how the death of his mother would motivate him to form a temporary partnership with Thor to seek vengeance. I'm going to hazard that this spoilery reveal is either an elaborate ploy by Marvel to get these details out without having to officially spoil their own movie, or this particular individual will not be working for the company much longer. I'm really interested to see the destruction that will be wrought upon Asgard, and my guess is the film's biggest effects sequence will be there contained. I wish I didn't know these plot details, but like driving past a car accident, my curiosity would not allow me to look away from these spoilers.
What do you guys think? Do these plot points intrigue you? Would you rather know these things before seeing the movie or go in cold?

Comment by mike kelly on October 24, 2012 at 9:04pm i dont think its that spoilery. its not the type of movie that would otherwise be ruined by spoilers anyway and this is all info that would most likely be in the first trailer
Comment by Cranky Old Dude on October 24, 2012 at 7:09pm Interesting. Real or Red herring?? Either way it keeps us speculating...

Comment by Kim on October 24, 2012 at 4:34pm This sounds so far-fetched. I'm sorry but I'm having a hard time believing this. No Marvel employee with an ounce of sense would risk losing his (or her) job by spoiling a huge chunk of the movie. Sorry guys, but I call bullshit on this guy's plot details.
Comment by Dustin Langley on October 24, 2012 at 3:46pm To me I enjoy to know a little about the movie especially when it's being made. The days of keeping stuff secret should be over, cause telling people what the movie is about will stop them from seeing the movie?!? We should be worried if they don't want to tell us and for those who don't want spoilers...don't go on the internet.
Comment by Instant Udon on October 24, 2012 at 3:19pm So Jane is a MacGuffin.
WHO WOULD'VE GUESSED?!
Comment by Tom on October 24, 2012 at 3:12pm Like plots matter in these movies.
