Initial Reaction: LEAVE MY PHILIP K. DICK alone!!! Yes a great movie an even better director's cut were made from the property but by the law of crap all things arc to crap the more the property is developed. There was a neat adventure game made back in the mid 90's that was like 5 disks long (about 1 DVD today) was a mix of the book and movie (yes there are differences) but I get worried that every time this property is set to develop it will go bad.
Meditative Reaction: IT LOOKS GOOD! The above link takes you to a 6 page preview of the first book. Some artistic problems but minor the over all look is good and faithful to the book. Even to the point of third person narrative which to the original theatrical release was a first person narrative lending itself to a more noir feel but was not in the original source material.
Final Intention: I'll pick it up and see where it will go.
Initial Reaction: This is an interesting concept and I like the sort of League of Extrodinary Gentlemen or the Atomic Robo revisionist fictional history of these characters.
Meditative Reaction: Ok! I'm looking at the preview and enjoying it. Seems to be kind of Sixth Sense like art gives me hesitation. There are positives and negatives for the art. It is stylized for the time period having the shading done in cross-hatch style the same in woodblock prints, but the way characters are drawn are inconsistent and that leaves a bad taste in my eyes. I don't know much about Poe's personal life other than he's a fixture of Baltimore, MD and was a drunk. But maybe this works in the title's favor as I am unaware of what its trying to get pasted me for a suspension of disbelief. So maybe those who wrote their senior thesis on Poe would have to sit this out?
Final Intention: I'll pick it up as see where it will go.
