This still may be a bit premature, but various sources are today saying that EON Productions may finally be moving forward with the 23rd installment of the iconic James Bond film franchise
Series composer David Arnold
(who has scored each Bond flick since 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies
) told IndieWire
that the new film was "back on" after being put on indefinite hold earlier this year because of MGM's financial meltdown.
Meanwhile, Kate Winslet
, ex-wife of on-again, off-again Bond 23
director Sam Mendes
, also chimed in, saying that “Sam is doing the next Bond film, all being well, and we’ll all be in England if that happens. It’s such a massive commitment for him and it’s not fair for him to commute backwards and forwards to New York from London. It would be impossible. The children will be there with me.”
Additionally, the trade notes that Mendes' theater friend Simon Russell Beale
may be in the running for a role in the film. “Every actor wants to be in Bond",
he said. "I’d love to be a baddie. I saw Sam just before Christmas and dropped a hint – and he just looked wearily at me.”
Could Beale take on the role of the feared head of Quantum, the mysterious organization hinted at in the previous two films? I think we'll soon find out...
