It's funny how some stories can start off seeming like jokes, but then snowball into something legitimate. Such is the case with the proposed third installment of the Bill & Ted franchise. For a while now it has been reported that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, the actors who played the time-traveling dolts from 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure'/'Bogus Journey,' were far more keen than expected to reprise the roles for a third film. Then we heard whispers that a script had been put together. Now it looks like a director has been hired. Dean Parisot ('Galaxy Quest') has been tapped for the gig by Bill & Ted creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, who also wrote the script for the new film. The third film is said to not be a remake or reboot, but instead a look at where Ted "Theodore" Logan and Bill S. Preston, Esq are today. Parisot will begin shooting the sequel to the spy comedy 'Red'in the spring, which should give this new project time to shop for a co-financier. MGM currently has the rights.

I really don't know how to feel about this one. Obviously it's beyond silly to pick up the story of Bill & Ted some two decades since we last saw them, however it's not as if the original film itself wasn't exceedingly goofy. It's an 80s cult comedy that has a following, but is not necessarily of classic enough status that we would be in danger of treading on holy ground by doing a third. To be clear, I love 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure,' but I recognize its camp and its flaws. It's kind of intriguing me how excited Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are to come back to this franchise. Sure, Alex Winter isn't up to much these days, but it's fair to say Keanu found plenty of work after Bill & Ted hung up their phone and called it quits. I'll go ahead and say it, I'm morbidly curious. Dean Parisot isn't my favorite director, but I genuinely liked 'Galaxy Quest.' If 'Bill & Ted 3'has some of that same self-aware meta humor, this might actually work.

What do you guys think? Could a third 'Bill & Ted'movie work? Or will it be most heinous?

Hard to tell if this will bomb or not. The first two came out in 1989 and 1991, and back then they were pretty funny.  Now 20 years later it might not be so. We've kinda moved on from this so its a hard call.

As long as it isn't another stupid reboot.

Be excellent to each other and part on all you want... Just please don't make another one of these. Bill and Ted's excellent adventure is a classic, but the second one doesn't even exist in my mind...

talking to a friend, we both believe that the story should and needs to be just as far out there as the first 2. for why go see a movie that isn't completely wtf am i watching. go watch the first 2 back to back, you will find that they are way to far out there for them to try and developed a really story line for the now a days. Please please be the most and i mean the most out there story line you can think of. it only makes it seem like the point of a third, not a book end just another one of there story's where they were to stoned to think of good things to do with the power to go anywhere in time in the first. sad that stoners are so forgetful... 2 film there in hell with robots doubling as them in the really world. what more do i need to say about that....the 3 needs to beat the first two like rocky beat the russian in rocky 4. Read into that as far as you will.

This could really work well. After becoming famous rock stars at the end of the second movie perhaps now they are broke and forgotten due to the death of rock and roll. Their mannerism and personality could really clash with modern society which would bring some great comedy. There could also be an element of rock vs modern music. I am definitely looking forward to this but I am aware of how easily they could fuck it up. Party on dudes!
