Behold Mondo's 'Cabin in the Woods' Poster

Mondo News, the purveyor of stunning and unique poster art for the various screening events at the Alamo Drafthouse, has done it again. When I initially heard that they were doing poster for Drew Goddard's 'The Cabin in the Woods,' as much as I love Mondo, I have to say I was a little uneasy. Again spawning from my paranoia of 'Cabin' spoilers, and knowing how Mondo prints usually bring into sharp focus some distinct detail of the films they are celebrating, I wondered how they would be able to show any more than the theatrical poster without spoiling anything. My doubts were clearly unwarranted. How did they show more than the theatrical poster without giving anything away? They merely show us the inside of that twisted, hovering cabin. It's like some sort of brilliant M.C. Escher nightmare and I absolutely love it. Take a look at the image below and let us know what you think.

'The Cabin in the Woods' opens April 13th.

Agreed, Detfink. There's nothing really imaginative about what Mondo does, not to discredit the artists, but it's all something people are already familiar with. You could argue that's what pop-art is but...I'm not.

Freakin' LOVE this poster; shame it's already sold out.

I like the way Mondo takes stuff that has been done before like Saul Bass and modernize it...but for some reason, I feel its sophmoric in terms of how this repetitious way of "nostalgia" keeps being recycled...and there's no basis for wanting to do something more interesting...and that is defeating for kids out there who need a break.
